First of all let me give a huge thanks to all of the amazing women that have shared their stories! It's been so inspirational to read about all the ups and downs and have this wealth of knowledge and experience at my fingertips.
I am a single mother of one son (18). I love my son like crazy but he sure did a number on my tummy. Age and gravity haven't been on my side either. I've wanted my stomach fixed for as long as I can remember and now I'm finally in the position financially that I can afford it. I go back and forth emotionally every few days though. Some days I feel like I've waited this long and given my son all I could for the last 18 years and I deserve this for myself and other days I feel extremely guilty for spending such a large chunk of money on me. : /
I haven't felt really excited yet like I always pictured I would. Instead I've been more focused on "nesting", making sure everything is taken care of and all my supplies are purchased. I bought a raised toilet seat with arms, a walker, and also a memory foam mattress topper that I am going to cut a hole in for my butt so I can still lay on my back without putting pressure directly on it. I've heard some ladies get recliners for post surgery but I'm just not sure how you would position yourself in a recliner and not have pressure on your butt. I've also heard others saying they had to sleep on their sides but I'm not sure how painful that will be after lipo. So my best solution was the mattress topper with a hole cut for the booty. Any insight on this would be much appreciated from you ladies that have been through both procedures at the same time. I hope my surgeon approves.
I will be taking three weeks off work and I do have the option of taking another week but I really hope I don't need to. My job is very physical and I'm on my feet almost all day and always lifting heavy things (batteries, tires, etc).
My pre op appt is December 9th and I have a bunch of questions for Dr. Kerr and Vlasta. So far I've felt very comfortable with them.
That's all for now. Thanks for reading so far and I hope my story will help someone else like so many others have done for me. Ttyl gorgeous ladies!

Wow. That's great. I was really hoping to hear from some of Dr. Kerr's other patients. I'm in the same boat as you are right now. Feeling ups and downs about the surgery. Lots of worrying and feeling a little selfish then going back to excitement. I think that's all pretty normal. Hopefully we can keep in touch throughout our recoveries. I'm anxious to see your results!

Hi! Just wanted to say that I too have my pre-op appointment with Dr. Kerr on Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 and my surgery (TT) is also on December 22, 2014. Wow! Best of luck to you. I'm so nervous! Can't think of anything else right now.

Wow. How crazy is that?! Dr. Kerr is gonna be a busy guy on the 22nd. I wonder who's gonna go first? I wish you the very best for your surgery and your recovery! I'm really nervous too, but I'm getting more excited everyday. Are you having just a tummy tuck or are you doing and Lipo or muscle repair with yours?
December 8, 2014
I think there will be some minimal MR. He said he could do a little lipo on flanks if I wanted. But I'm undecided. My husband and I both wonder if there's really any fat there to suction out. Most of my issue is loose skin and flab in the tummy area. I think it's the lip that I'm most afraid of with recovery. I'm right at my ideal weight. Guess I'll have to make up my mind pretty quickly right?!?
December 8, 2014
Oh and I know that I'm not the first surgery on that day. I think I'm the 2nd though.

You only have two short weeks to decide. Before you know it it'll be the 22nd. If you don't think you need it then I wouldn't get it. From reading all these other reviews it seems to be a bit painful and one of the harder parts of recovery. I can't believe its so soon.
December 8, 2014
That's what I've been reading too. I just don't want to make a mistake and not get the best results from the whole procedure. I'll talk to Dr. Kerr again about it tomorrow! Wow! Tomorrow? The time flew by!

I'll second that. I can't believe how fast time is going and I didn't realize how much work it would be to prep for everything.
December 8, 2014
Prep? I haven't even started yet! Yikes! Guess I should get on that! LOL. Just when I plan to sit down and start prioritizing I get side tracked in reading up on things here on RS.

You may not need as much prepping as I have. I'm single and won't be able to drive/ sit on my butt because of the fat transfer for about three weeks. My son is 18 and hasn't felt the need to get his license yet (he's too into his studies and early college/high school so I'm not complaining). I'll be at the mercy of friends to go to the store for me and take me to post op appt's. You should feel blessed you have your husband there to count on. : ) I've had to do three weeks worth of grocery shopping and have been cooking and freezing some healthy meals. I've also bought some supplements like arnica, bromelian, vitamins, protein mix and pineapple juice (I'm a vegetarian so I want to make sure I have enough protien to promote my healing). I also decided to purchase a recliner and I took 6" of memory foam and laid it where you sit and cut a hole out for my butt so I can recover in a reclined position and not have any pressure on my booty. Also got a walker and a raised toilet seat with arms. Geez that's a lot of stuff. Maybe it's a little overkill but I want to make myself as comfortable as possible and not be a burden to anyone.

Wow! You are prepared! I'm very impressed! Guess I need to get my butt in gear now that I've had my pre-surgical appointment. How did your appointment go? My only issues is that he wants me to have my thyroid levels tested. I had a thyroidectomy 2 1/2 years ago and I guess he wants to make sure that my levels are okay. He said that the majority of cancellations the day of surgery are due to thyroid hormone levels. Mine should be good though as I'm on synthroid and have been leveled off for almost 2 years now.

It's good that you have your thyroid issues under control. I think it'll be just fine. Let me know how the testing goes and if your cleared for surgery. I have a genetic blood protein disorder that causes my blood to clot and I'm on a daily aspirin to keep my blood thin. Dr. Kerr said to stop taking my aspirin until surgery and then I have to give myself a shot of a blood thinner for ten days post surgery. I'm not looking forward to that at all! Other than that everything went smoothly. My appt is at 7:00 and I have to be there at 5:30. My first post op is the very next morning. That isn't going to be very fun either. Hopefully the pain meds are in full force. Lol Are you feeling nervous or anxious at all? I sure am.
December 10, 2014
My surgery is scheduled at 12:15 p.m. and I have to be there at 9:15 a.m. We've booked a hotel room there in Round Rock because we have too far to drive. Live in the Wimberley area. My first post-op is at 10:30 the next morning too. Yes, I'm nervous as can be, but just keep thinking of the results. Talked to him about the lipo and because he does the newer SAFElipo and it's very minimal around the hip/flank area, I decided to go ahead with it as well. I was also very pleased that he told me that my scar is only going to be about 1 to 1 1/2 inch wider on each side than my current C-section scar. So it's not going to wrap around my hip area. Yea!
User Avatar

That's great! He told me my scar will be very low and actually placed right under my cecearean scar and it will go just inbetween my hips and not around them. Probably the same as you. My post op appt will be at 10am so I'll probably see you there both of us looking out best and all hunched over. Lol I'm also trying to focus on the results and none of the negatives and "what ifs". Did he say if the safe lipo was any less painful? I didn't even think to ask what type of lipo I'm getting. Mine's going to be pretty aggressive since he has to harvest enough fat to transfer to my butt. He says he wants to put 500cc each side.
December 10, 2014
I think that is the only type of lipo he does. It actually is an acronym for separation, aspiration and fat equalization. There is supposedly less bruising and pain with it.

Thank you so much. That's good to know. I can't believe that slipped my mind to even ask. : / I'll have to do a little research on it and check it out.

As a lipo Brazilian fat tranfer And now 31/2 weeks tt / u should not mixed the two it anit no way I'm hell u will be able to recovery properly.. U can't lay on your ass for 6 week if u do u will kill those fat cells before they have a chance to breath... And your tummy tuck post op abs only want to be one way and that's up...if u move your abs the wrong way u could bust your abd muscle suture before they had time heal and adhere to that stomach of yours.. I have had all three ... Going to Miami next summer .to one of the best Brazilian butt PS in the world we can go together and get our 3D butts together.. I'm getting some revisions to mine I already ready had .Take my advice as a RN and patient .. Don't go mixing fire with pain..good luck ..
November 23, 2014
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results. You look very fit.
November 23, 2014
Are you doing tummy and booty at the same time? Seems like that would be difficult to deal with during recovery.
User Avatar
November 23, 2014
Yes, I'm doing both. I'm not having a large volume of fat transferred to the butt though and my surgeon is very confident doing both at the same time. Recovery will be more difficult as I will have to keep pressure off my butt for optimal results. I bought a four inch thick memory foam mattress topper and I'm going to cut a hole where my butt will be so I can still recover on my back or until I'm comfortable on my side. Hopefully my plan works well.

I could never and will never do no more or less then one... U get the best results that Way...that butt fat transfer is a slow and pain staking task for Your PS / I love plastic surgeons and have the up most respect for their skills, but to be honest they downplay recovery at your pre-op consultation... Must be some unwritten code ... Hell who knows why... I have had all three tt/lipo/fat graft but on 2 sep.. Occasions...but every one heals differently ....

I have my pre op appt on Dec 9th and I have my wish pics picked out. I don't want to overwhelm Dr. Kerr so I only picked my top three.
I also forgot to mention I had a c-section with my son and that I've maintaned the same weight for the last 18 years. I'm finally starting to feel some excitement. So looking forward to being on the flat side! Happy healing ladies. : )

Excited to watch your transformation!! Hope your surgery goes awesome!! I'm wanting to do about the same surgeries. Still in the planning/hoping stage. Like you and so many others I'm trying to convince myself that it's ok to spend that amount of money on me. Good luck : ) xxxx

Thank you so much! It took me 18 years to get to this point so I completely understand all the hesitations women go through. Not only is it A LOT of money it's hard to let go and have others take care of you when you're so used to being the caregiver. I'm starting to get more and more excited everyday and the more I see my big blob of a stomach in the mirror the more I feel like I need this to feel like myself again. Every woman deserves that. : )
