I had a prophylactic double mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with Dr Hassall (who by the way went on leave 2 days after my surgery and was uncontactable for 3 to 4months!) A couple of weeks after this surgery one of my breasts started leaking profusely. Since Hassall was on leave I had to go in for surgery with another surgeon to have the implant removed. I was left with a great big scar across my right breast and was left for 3 months with one implant and a flat chest on the other side. When Dr Hassall finally returned I was offered no explanation of what may have gone wrong although I do know it wasn't infection as the swab the other surgeon took came back negative. Dr Hassall put the correct sized implant back in but only 2 weeks after that she called me back into hospital to have some fluid removed, alas I awoke from surgery to be told that Hassall had removed the same implant and placed a smaller one in. I now had 2 different sized breasts. I went about like this for another few months. Finally, she had me in to put the correct size implant back in but to my great disappointment I awoke to find breasts that looked very different in size, one being higher than the other, one placed closer to the centre of my chest than the other giving me a crooked cleavage and horrible crinkling along my cleavage. To add insult to injury, she tried to book me in to reconstruct nipples on these horribly messy breasts. All of this took place over the space of a year. A year of hell! Dr. Hassall's work is messy at best, her communication skills are non-existent, she doesn't listen to concerns and does whatever she likes to your body without discussing it with you first. To add further insult, she used liposuction to remove some fat from my inner thighs (I'm only a thin woman) to use as fat injections in my breasts (this helps to fix any divets in the breasts) and she left my thighs horribly misshapen. One of my inner thighs has a large hole in it where she took too much fat and this thigh is now a different shape from my other thigh. Do not trust Hassall with your body. It is very hard and expensive to fix the mess that she makes. My husband and I had to pay another surgeon a lot of money to fix her mess. Please take this as a warning. I would hate anyone to go through what I went through. There are plenty of other surgeons out there. Do your research and don't make the same mistake I did by placing your trust in Hassall.
