I'm 53, 8 years post menopausal and my poor neck is really missing estrogen and my forties. Ugh.
I'm scheduled for a neck and lower facelift in the morning, Wednesday 5th October. I'm a bit nervous, but I'm also excited.
Reading reviews on Real self gave me the confidence to proceed with surgery and that's why I'm sharing my experience.

My surgery went well. I was a bit uncomfortable last night because of the dressing, but no pain. The dressing was removed this morning and I'm wearing the pressure garment, which is fine. I'm looking forward to getting the drain removed tomorrow.
I know it's early days, but I'm really pleased to see my jaw and firm neck!

Did you get it done in hospital or private clinic? Are you now home?

In hospital and I stayed overnight. I'm home now and get my drain removed this morning.

PS: there doesn't appear to be too much bruising??? Was it just a neck lift or neck/lower face?
October 7, 2016
Thank you. I had a neck lift, but that includes the lower face because the jaw is tightened. I have very little bruising at the moment. I'm going to update with photos today.

Thanks for reply! Sorry I only just realised today that you had responded two months ago!

Day 3: Drain Removed
katebythebeachOctober 8, 2016
My drain is out and I feel more comfortable. The skin on my jaw and behind my ears is a bit numb, but I don't have any bruising. I'm really happy with my recovery at this stage. I wasn't sure how I would feel after the surgery, so it's good to feel so well.

Looking forward to your progress. You look great!

I always thought there was a far bit of bruising. Maybe it kicks in a few days postop. You wearing a compression garment of some sort? Are you on any meds?
October 8, 2016
I was expecting bruising too. Yes I'm wearing a compression garment to reduce swelling and my doctor said I don't need that from tomorrow, but I guess I'll still put it on if I feel swollen. I'm not taking any meds since my drain was removed and I was only taking Panadol/Tylenol before that.

I feel really good thank you. I still have some swelling, but it's only obvious to me. The lack of bruising really surprised me, because I bruise very easily. My staples are being removed on Tuesday, so I'll take photos and post an update then.

I know right, but they don't bother me. They are in my hair behind my ears, you can see them in the photo showing my drain.

Looking great! How are the stitches feeling? I love how your doctor really hid them in the ear and hairline.
October 8, 2016
Thank you! The stitches feel fine and will be removed in 2 days. The scars really won't be obvious.

Who did you surgery? Clearly he is a skilled dr. You look great.

Thank you! My surgeon is Dr Nicholas Lotz and I can't fault my experience with him and his office.

You look awesome!!! Your PS was very skilled.

I think it is one of the easier ops. Recovery seems to be quite quick.
I am interested in where the scars are going to be?
