I'm 32 years old woman. I've been suffering from bad cystic acne since a long time at least 10years due to hormone imbalance. Been so nervous to take accutane. I've tried everything but nothing worked. I'm giving accutane a go this is my last desperate solution. Fingers cross it will work. Ramona!!!

Hi Ramona, I'm a 33 year old woman and am in the exact same situation as you are. I'm on day 15 of my treatment. So far it is going well. This week I am having a bit of a breakout but I know this is normal. Would love to hear about your progress. Keep me posted! Good luck!!

Hi Ramona, I have a really good feeling about this! Like you, I have tried everything under the sun and nothing has ever worked. I was also very apprehensive about taking accutane but I honestly believe that if you take good care of yourself you will be just fine. A week before i started taking accutane i took chinese herbs medecine for a week and i felt so good on them health wise, they help regulate hormones. I've asked my doctor and doc from this forum if i can keep taking them while on accutane. Will let you know when i get an answer if you're interested to try:)

Good luck Ramona on your journey accutane was the best thing that happened to me yet! My side effects were minimal and I update almost weekly or at minimum biweekly!!! It's refreshing when you get to month 3/4 it gets better almost every day and people notice and comment. I started to date a guy during treatment and he couldn't understand why I was going to the dermatologist lol which was an awesome feeling because truthfully had he met me 4 months ago he would have known why I needed treatment but now I'm being seen for who I am and I'm sure as long as you don't experience the severe side effects and are able to go through full treatment you will be pleased! So far so good, side effects: Few breakouts on face&back, my lips started to dry and flaky scalp.

the dry flakey scalp is so irritating!!! I used a product called Hair & Me. Its an oil that you put on your scalp and hair, you can leave it in overnight and i found it really helped! Espesh with the itching!!! It's made by a woman here in Melbourne (my very own hairdresser funnily enough!) and it all natural etc. Give it a go :)
