Physio

I had my physio appointment today. It was really helpful, especially as the physio sees lots of ladies post op and didn't seem concerned with the swelling. I did a few palates exercises and she advised how to progress the exercises during the coming weeks. The picture is of my sweetly belly when I got home :-O

Life is swell!

6 weeks tomorrow since my Tummy Tuck. The tape on my scar was needing changed so thought I'd update with some pics. I'm absolutely thrilled with my results and have had no issues whatsoever with my incision and belly button; they're healing beautifully. Well, actually, I did think my BB was off centre but I think it was jut being pulled one way because it's more central now. The creases on it are diagonal too but I think they'll continue to straighten out so not concerned about that either. I do however still have a lot of swelling. I feel a lot of pressure internally and although I don't look very swollen, my waist is 2 inches more than pre-surgery and I can't fit into my jeans yet. Last week I felt so uncomfortable with the pressure that I contacted Mrs Kat's office. They arranged for me to see Mrs Kat the very next day at a different hospital...amazing customer service! She said I had a lot of swelling and that it would get better. She didn't think there was any fluid in there but she could see I was still worried about it so offered to put a needle in to double check. Of course, she was right and there was no fluid in there to be drained, just swelling. Mrs Kat was lovely and really helped put my mind at rest.

I have my complimentary physio appointment on Monday and I'm looking forward to getting some more exercises that will hopefully help to straighten me up as I've still got to consciously make myself stand up straight and not quite 100% there yet...I'm blaming the internal swelling! I'm also going to ask about these weird muscle spasms/tightenings that I get in the morning when I first move. They feel a bit like contractions; not painful though, just uncomfortable. The outside of my left thigh is still numb too although the shooting pains have almost gone :-)

I think I'm taking a little longer than others to get back to normal but I guess we're all different and I'm going in the right direction (walking, not running!) so I'm happy.

Day 20

Not much has changed really. I'm still swollen, it's like that stuffed feeling when you've eaten way too much. I've got micropore tape on my scar now that I replace when it's hanging off, although the nurse did say that if it's still on after a 3 week stretch, to replace it. I'm still not upright yet either, it still feels very tight above my belly button but I feel I am getting straighter. My tummy is still mostly numb too, which feels a bit weird, especially when putting iodine on my belly button. The outside of my left thigh is still numb too. However, on a positive note, the shooting pains have eased off a little and only cause pain when I lie flat and straighten my leg. I drove too for the first time yesterday, only a couple of miles but it was so great to be out. All in all, I think I'm healing as well as I can be and I'm just waiting for the swelling to go now. I work from home so I've been doing some work too...from my bed! I actually have loved my bed, we managed to get a single electric bed that has been absolutely brilliant. It was only £50 from eBay so if you have the room for it, I would certainly recommend one.

I did a ton of research and for me, Mrs CC Kat came top. I love the fact that she pioneered her 'lock and glue' technique, for me, a creative mind and one that can develop improvements is an essential characteristic in a great surgeon. Another thing high on my list of criteria was a low scar. I have a long torso and high belly button and as most of my baggy skin is below my BB, I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough skin to pull right down therefore resulting in a high scar. Mrs Kat assured me that my scar will be low and it is highly likely that I will have a small vertical scar coming up from the main incision; I'm very happy for her to do what she feels is necessary. Another thing I wanted to avoid was obvious lumps at the sides where the scars end. Again, Mrs Kat explained that she gathers the skin in at an angle when she's stitching it, this may look a little puckered to begin with but flattens out to create a smooth finish. I'm also pleased that Muscle Repair and Lipo come as part of the package; it's great that I don't have to make a decision about that. Mrs Kat is also very thorough in her explanations; all of my criteria were ticked off without me having to ask a single question! I'm very excited and feel like I'm in great hands. Please have a look at my profile for my results...hopefully they will speak for themselves and be testament enough.
