Horrible Experience

I had Smart Lipo done by Dr Odell. He is a nice person but I had horrible experience with Smart Lipo. My first time I was feeling pain during procedure. Day after procedure I called Dr around 8am saying I can not seem to use bathroom and might be having UTI. Dr assured that can not be possible and called in prescription for muscle relaxer etc. Suffering through all day multiple calls to Dr, I ended up going to ER 1am for almost ruptured bladder. I was having side effect of urine retention with one of the pain meds. I had to wear cathetar for 3 days. 4 months later, results were not nearly good so Mary suggested to go second round as most patients have to do Lipo second time for discount price. I told Dr I want to make sure I don't feel pain during procedure and don't end up in ER again. He said he will give me different paint medicine. During procedure (second time) I remember complaining to him multiple times I'm really hurting. He said to his nurse give her half zanax. I did not have anxiety issue, I was feeling REAL PAIN. I kept telling me, you won't remember any of this. I felt so helpless and remember wiping my tears during procedure. I spoke with Dr next day, did you give me any pain medicine. He said, he gave pain meds to my husband for post op. I asked did you give me any pain medicine before or during procedure especially when I was complaining? He said no since I had reaction last time. My issue is if I told Dr I had pain during first procedure, during second procedure he gives me NO pain medicine? So, now after spending close to $12,000, almost ruptured bladder, pain during 2 surgeries, I DO NOT recommend this center for Lipo.

Am I Suppose to Feel Real Pain During Smart Lipo?

I had smart lipo done with Doctor in Florence SC on May 24, 2018. He said I was a good candidate for it. They charged me $7,000 for the procedure. During the procedure I felt pain on the table. Since it was outpatient procedure, my husband took me home. Next morning around 6am I started feeling cramps. Around 8am I called Dr and he said it might be normal just rest. I mentioned I might have UTI because I'm unable to go bathroom. He said to rest up and drink water. I called Dr multiple times all day that I can't seem to urinate. He prescribed muscle relaxant By evening I told him my cramps are like I'm in labor. He said he does 100s of these and there is no chance of complication. I threw up 3-4 times and was feeling very week. I took hot bath, tried to relax myself but by midnight I was in unbearable pain. Around 1am I could not take a step anymore and my husband called ambulance. EMT said you are in very serious condition and Hydrocodone usually has a side effect of urine retention. EMT called hospital to have room ready as there is emergency; Doctor in ER did ultrasound that my bladder was over full. They put catheter and took out 3.5 liters of urine. Nurses said if I didn't come by now, my bladder could have exploded. Hospital sent me home with catheter on. I had to wear catheter for 3 days till I saw my lipo doctor. Hospital bills were around $3000 and my insurance didn't cover it.

Next day when I called Dr Edward, he said he has never had happened before. I was like I understand, mishaps happen and didn't make big deal. I asked him why I felt so much pain during procedure. He said Asians might have thicker skin and might take longer for medicine to kick in. It has happened to him before. He said he will take more precautions if I decide to do procedure again.

Four months after the procedure, my results were not nearly as good as they should be. Dr office said you should redo the procedure for another $2000. I spoke with Dr that I had too much on procedure table and I want to make sure it doesn't happen and also urinary complications;. He said he won't prescribe me Hydrocodone. He told me to take extra Xanax hour before I come to office.

During the procedure, I kept telling Dr that I'm feeling too much pain. Pain lasted long time and I was crying and remember wiping my tears during procedure. He kept saying you won't remember anything. I told him please give me something for pain. I remember him telling his nurse give her half Xanax. He kept telling me, its ok you won't remember any of this. I remember everything and every time he told me to turn.

Next day I called Doctor to ask why I felt incredible pain. He said he didn't want to give my Hydrocodone as I had urine retention last time. He said he told my husband to give me Tramadol for pain post op. I asked the Dr did you give me Tramadol before or during procedure and he said it was not needed.

My question is, if with Hydrocodone I suffered pain in last procedure why did this time he did not give me any pain medicine at all before or during procedure even though I was literally crying on table. So far I have spent over $12000 for the procedure, almost ruptured badder, incredible pain twice on operation table.
