After much consideration, I am moving forward with a full tummy tuck and liposuction of flanks. I have chosen to have the procedure--not out of self hate, but rather, out of self love. My ability to look my best is important to me. It's hard to contain my excitement! My surgery is 29 days away..????????????

I like the idea of chronicling my journey. I didn't think that would be the case. I find the process to be inspiring--being able to say this is where I was...this is where I'm going!

Its really real!

Hello lovely ladies! Today I visited the plastic surgeon to finalize payment and sign consent forms--it just got really real! I received my pre-surgical vitamins and arnica. I was able to ask more questions about drains and alcohol consumption (I'm going to be on vacation prior to surgery date). There will be two drains. Admittedly, this is my only apprehension and my reason for having a CNA. I am concerned I may faint at the sight of the fluid! YIKES! LOL! Nurse Mary assured me that I will be able to manage with help. I have decided to take it easy on vacation--just a little wine with dinner. I am sure it will be worth it! On another note, I have been doing a no-carb, no sugar diet plan. I have lost 6lbs. I am 8lbs from my desired pre-surgery weight. From other reviews, it seems to aid in recovery to diet and strengthen muscles. Thank you for all the supportive comments. I am so excited about it, but its not easily spoken about in mixed company. Peace & Happiness my surgical sisters!

Thus far, my interaction with the doctor and his staff has been extremely positive. Dr. Momeni is well qualified, and patient. He promptly entered the room with a wonderful smile that immediately put me at ease. He explained my options clearly, and he did not "try to sell" the more expensive procedure. I appreciated that most. I opted for the full tummy tuck instead of the mini. Dr. Momeni discussed pain medication, drainage tubes, and the shape of my new naval. The latter was a real concern for me-- I didn't want a weird looking belly button!! Lol! He also talked about scarring and what the scar may look like on my skin color. The surgical nurse was kind and knowledgable. We discussed my post op concerns such as: mobility, showering, driving, and bowel movements. She encouraged walking along with natural laxatives to help with the constipation that comes with taking pain meds. I have chosen to not stay overnight in the hospital, but I will have CNA to help me when my husband returns to work. I also have rented a hospital bed, so I will be able to rest comfortably--I cannot do a week in a recliner!
