Successful Facial Feminization Surgery

I recently had Facial Feminization Surgery at The Spiegel Center. I am currently 2 weeks past my surgery so I want to discuss their welcoming environment and how helpful they were before surgery and immediately afterwards. The thing that I instantly realized when I contacted them is how welcoming and professional the staff are. Everyone from my patient care coordinator, to their transition specialist, and the doctors themselves made me feel comfortable. They understood how important this surgery was to reduce my dysphoria and it showed.

My Patient Care Coordinator, Carole, helped every step of the way before surgery to make sure I was prepared for my big day. She helped me coordinate all of the paperwork required through my insurance company with a positive and upbeat attitude. She was easily reached anytime I had questions or concerns. She was full of positivity that was certainly infectious. She made me feel like I was always her number one priority. She was my biggest cheerleader.

The fact that there is a Transition Specialist on staff was amazing. Having a trans woman on staff that I could talk with about my dysphoria and any fears I may have was a game changer. Knowing that The Spiegel Center understood the importance of representation in our community gave me a comfort level that I will always be grateful for. Juliana and I had a conversation before the surgery that allowed me to address my concerns about having to stop estrogen a couple of weeks before surgery in a way that most people couldn’t. After surgery I reached out to her because I was feeling down and she lifted my spirits immediately.

The Medical Staff themselves were very professional and were able to explain all of the procedures I had, 7 in all, in a way that was accessible to me. A couple of days after surgery was Thanksgiving and the staff reached out to me to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving and to check on me to see how I was feeling. Anytime I needed to speak to them I could reach them and they were always able to answer my questions.

I am healing nicely from surgery and cannot wait to see the final results. I have total faith based on their compassion and professionalism that I am going to be very pleased.

I consider myself very fortunate to have been under the care of the wonderful staff at The Spiegel Center and highly recommend them.
