Don’t Do It

Left with more scars after one subcision + PRP session. When did some dermatologists forget their Hippocratic Oath? “First, do no harm.” He knows full well that he exploits patients insecurities and that certain lighting and initial swelling will make patients think that the treatment has reduced the scarring. The needle he used left tiny slice marks and the original scars re-tether or remain sunken. Post one month visit he tries to convince the patient that there is improvement, it’s only when you look him in the eye and assert that there is no improvement that he’ll then move to an even more horrid tactic of suggesting you go for additional subcision treatments plus use of infini. He knows it doesn’t work, yet he knows that you as a trusting and desperate patient can be exploited. When I first met him, I told him that I’m tired of hearing that I should expect to see “30-70% improvement” from so many derms when it comes to many procedures where “improvement” is not exactly measurable as the skin depressions/pits/scars look drastically different under some lights and angles so it’s easy to get tricked/hopeful. So, he looks at me, and says, I can expect to see an improvement ranging from 10-80%. Later, his technician tells me that he always says 30-70, that he only said 10-80 to me because I said I don’t like hearing 30-70. What?! Anyway, I wouldn’t let him push additional treatments on me after making my scars worse. He told me to give it a few more months as the collagen takes a while to restore the skin. It has been five months now, and I know the scars are worse and I regret getting this procedure. I wish I had just made peace with what I had instead of making my skin worse.
