Great Results for Facial Acne Scarring

I originally went to Dr. Shanthala for acne scar subcision and fillers as she was the only one who performed both treatments in the Boston area. I was looking to repair severe facial acne scarring from over a decade of punishing cystic acne. Dr. Shanthala did so much more—in my time with her, I’ve had tens of different treatments in varying combinations: subcision, fillers, micro-needling, threads, exosomes, and more. I’m happy to say my facial scarring, as well as volume, texture, complexion, and elasticity, have all dramatically improved by these treatments and I intend to keep seeing Dr. Shanthala for even better results.
One important note: she has a wonderful bedside manner and is very attentive to any discomfort you might feel. In the past, I’ve seen other doctors for scar revision and, despite all the measures to numb me, the pain was excruciating. I clearly have a more sensitive face than most. With Dr. Shanthala, however, she is constantly asking if I’m alright, if I need more numbing, short breaks, etc., and any discomfort is much, much more tolerable. This care has subdued any hesitance I have about future treatments. I know I’m in good hands.
Pictured are the results a month after my first session with Dr. Shanthala. It’s only gotten better from there.

The lighting is different in the after pictures giving the impression of improvement. That’s cheating. Almost every doctor does it. I can’t understand it.
Hey Crowly,

The way Dr. Shanthala takes these pictures, she shows them to me directly afterward, so I can guarantee these are the photos I saw after they were taken (minus, of course, the blurring of the eyes--the only manipulation I'm aware of). You can even tell from the before front-facing photos with how bright the glint on my forehead is--I can promise you Dr Shanthala wasn't blinding me in the after photo lighting. I attribute the difference to the redness from my inflammation clearing up dramatically over that month, as well as my skin raising with some Sculptra filler. Rather than lighting, it's my skin whitening and reflecting light better overall. All the inflammation I used to have, for years and years, is practically gone, so I just look brighter in any photo taken of me.
It looks like maybe a 20% improvement. But most of the improvement looks due to less shininess in the skin in the after photos (shiny skin accentuates atrophic scars). I wouldn't be happy with the results, unless it was an easy, cheap procedure that I could repeat multiple times.
It's a combination of reducing my inflammation and raising some of my more sunken areas, catching the light better. As I recall, we did subcision and Sculptra then, possibly some RF microneedling. I've since kept seeing Dr. S and my improvement has reached around 80-85%, I'd say. It's taken a while, but given how deep and severe it was, there's just no way around it--I need a lot of time to build missing collagen and a lot to facillitate it.
