Clear Skin

I am half way done with my 5th month and my skin is clearer than it's ever been! I finally recognize myself from before my car accident and before all my back medications ruined my skin! I still have very dry lips and my nose has started to scab in the inside! I had to take a week break from accutane to heal my lips and nose while putting Neosporin on. It healed up nicely until I started accutane again so it looks like this dryness and scabbing in my nose may continue until the end :( But I can handle that as long as my skin continues to heal and stay clear!

First off, I'd like to say that acne has never been a stranger in my life. I've suffered with it since I was 13 and I'm 23 now; therefore, it's been 10 very long years. My acne pretty much cleared up during my last year of high school and for all four years while I was at college. After I was involved in a very serious car accident where I broke my back, the acne all came flooding back due to high stress and pain medications. I have since healed from my spine being fractured 7 months ago and have miraculously "fully recovered." But with all the changes I've had to endure since my accident...I do not want to have to deal with acne and horrid marks on my face as well. I mean acne is stressful enough without healing from a broken back as well. I am so thankful for the other reviews I've read because they helped me decide to pursue accutane. I started accutane about a month ago, April 7th. They started me on 20mg for the first month. I noticed my oily skin go away, and it made my face a little dry but not bad. My lips dried out the most...they had to prescribe me with some lip medication for my second month because my lips were cracking so badly. I started to notice the most side-effects when they upped my dosage to 40mg about a week ago. The side-effects include: dry/sore nose, headaches, very dry skin on my face, very dry lips, a slight break-out, and exhaustion. I'm tired all the time now. However, my body is probably just adjusting to the drug and the increased dosage. My process will be for 6 months, and my dermatologist's assistant warned me that the 2nd and 3rd months would most likely be the worst before the side-effects subside and I start to see real results. I'm very hopeful that I can finally be me again and finally feel beautiful. We shall see how this all turns out. Good luck to everyone else w! I will keep you all updated as time goes on. And I will post before and after pics later if I start to see improvements. Good luck to everyone else who feels like they have to hide their face away, just remember you're all beautiful with or without clear skin!

She is absolutely amazing! My cousin had her as a dermatologist before me, and she says that Ms. Thaler highly recommends accutane to most of her patients (whether they have mild or severe acne); she doesn't like to see anyone suffer from low self-esteem issues. I haven't had any problems with her; she explains the process and makes every visit personal. I'd recommend her to anyone that is suffering from acne or oily skin.
