Redness continues each time finish Keflex

WORTH IT
First off I want to say that these things happen especially with breast reconstruction. It is not a reflection on the doctor in any way. I have been receiving excellent care. Each time I go off the Keflex I keep getting red in my implant side. I am 4 weeks out and back on Keflex 48 hours now and the redness is again diminishing. This has been going on since I finished the original 7 days of Keflex post op. By day 10 post op was a little red, and by day 12 was back on Keflex. After taking the 2nd round, 2 days later, red again. Doctor started me on Cipro which just didn't work, he saw me in the office and put me back on Keflex and now 48 hours later the red is slowly decreasing. I have never had a fever although the breast did get warm to touch this past time. I am thinking of getting a consult with an infectious MD just to make sure I cover all the bases. If it can't be cleared up fully the implant will have to come out and I would want to see an infection md at that time anyway. But on a more positive note, it may just be irritation and my body trying to integrate the alloderm. I really hope so as I really love the results of my doctors work.

So this time was the charm. Redness gone. I started wearing a firmer bra and taking it way easier. I am so happy with my results. 4 stars for the results and for the great postop care.

Great to hear!

Thank you so much for sharing your opinion about your doctor.

I would love to add your experience to the Breast Reconstruction community, but it would be helpful if you could provide some more detail about your experience such as which type of reconstruction you had and recovery tips. I also suggest adding before and after photos - optional of course, so that other community members can use your review as a guide throughout their journey.

I am 58 years old and had a mastectomy with an implant 8 years ago. I recently decided to get things evened up. I had my old silicon implant replaced and a lift done on the other breast. I was able to go up from a 500 to a 600 and needed a slight reduction on the other breast as well as a lift. One week out and very happy so far

2 weeks post op. I got a little red and was immediately put on antibiotics. Going to see doctor today and redness is gone. Still very happy and feeling better each day. Just can't wait to be able to do all my normal activities. Get sore when I drive do still take an occasional 1/2 of a Vicodin 5/335 mg.
