1978 had allergan implants. They lasted 28 years without any problem or incident. 2007 had a revision with mentor implants. Had nothing but problems. The implants folded inside my breasts and it could not be detected with an MRI or a mammogram. It is sad that i had to have surgery to see what the problem was. I replaced mentors implants once again with Allergan. I would think Mentor would and should reimburse for my discomfort and costs. A implants that can fold in half inside of you seems much like a defect to me!! Not to mention that pain from them being folded for 3 plus years.

It's amazing your first set of implants lasted 28 years and then your second set gave you such grief. Sorry to hear of your years of discomfort but I'm glad you finally were able to resolve the problem. What size implants did you get each time? Hoping your recovery is going well. Thank you for sharing your story with us on RealSelf!

Feeling better--no more pains and lumps from protrusion from the folded implants by Mentor in my body. I have to say the after having the Allergan (McCann) naturelle implants without any problems for 28 years--why would i ever choose Mentor!! I would think it is a product defect that caused this to happen. It will take further investigation to know!! Dr. Heller also had to sew up some of the capsule on both due to the folded implants that aggravated the capsule to the point it was breaking down. This should not happen, but it did!! Feeling better and time will tell.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have just had my 22 year old Allergan implants removed as the right one developed a capsule. On removal it was discovered this implant had leaked, which is why the capsule formed. I think the implant was ruptured during a mammogram, because they squash the breast so hard, and the implant was old. I should have had them replaced after 20 years as this is recommended maximum time to have them in. I now have Motiva. Had surgery 7th Feb. I had an uplift and the new implants put sub muscular. Just a bit sore, but the shape looks good so I am hoping I don't get problems like you. Hope you are healing well. View my post susief1386 if you are interested to compare. Susie
