**8 month update! Tray 17 - New scans for refinements**

I can't believe how fast the time has gone - if you're thinking of getting Invisalign but the length time is putting you off, then don't let it!

Summary and advice with my thoughts with Invisalign so far:

- Be honest with your dentist about what you want, and ask anything you might be worried about. It helps a lot with the nerves, and will help avoid you spending a lot of time searching for answers on the internet.

-Photograph your first few weeks. You will forget to do this later on, and it will surprise and motivate you to compare back later on!

- If you're thinking about your aligners and worried that people are looking at them, then you will subconsciously draw attention to them. I've noticed that even after 8 months, if I start to think about them or if I'm talking about them - then I get a bit of a lisp!

- The good thing about Invisalign, is that you can take them out!! We all feel self-conscious at times. When I am seeing people that I haven't seen in a while, and I don't want them to know I have them - I take them out. It saves me worrying about it. You just have to make sure these are one-offs!

- Saying that, if you tell your close friends/colleagues that you have Invisalign then it may make you feel more comfortable! It's over and done with, they know and you don't have to be paranoid that people are staring at your teeth. My colleagues and friends always forget and offer me lots of food - but also have been really motivating by telling me when they see a difference! (Side note if you don't want people to know: I started a new job in September, and I was extremely nervous. I only recently told a couple of my colleagues casually that I was wearing Invisalign, and they hadn't noticed in two months - one didn't even believe me, I had to get up and close to point it out!)

We will look at peoples teeth more than most people tend to look at peoples teeth, that's why you are reading this! It's important to remember that when you are meeting and talking to new people, you look at them in the eyes when you're talking - most won't ever notice unless they look at your mouth, and even then they have to be pretty close or you have to draw attention to it (for example the lisp I mentioned earlier on). Also, most people don't even care! Don't panic and just look at the progress your teeth have made, and remember why you're doing this.

Invisalign is one of the best things I've done, I just wish I'd started it sooner!

Tray 4 Update

I had a consultation this morning to pick up trays 4, 5 and 6. This appointment was about 5 minutes, and I had slight IPR done. This time it wasn't as scary and it only took a minute using the metal file between a few teeth.
Once I got home I started to compare my trays from 1 - 4 and what my teeth will look like after tray 6! It's very exciting seeing the changes, and based on the trays I can see my top two front teeth will rotate more. My next appointment is in 6 weeks time, for more extensive IPR and to pick up my next set. I'm not sure how much more IPR I will need, and I'm hoping I won't need any more attachments in the future... as I haven't seen all the trays together. (I'm not sure how this works - if my dentist was sent all 22 of my trays initially or if they are sent in loads?)
Rather than uploading photographs now, I have taken some rather unflattering photographs from inside my mouth (at tray 3) and I will show these with some comparison photographs once I am at tray 6. I have exams in the next few weeks, so I'm sure this time will go very quickly!

Tray 3 Day 1 Update

Update from my previous post. I managed to continue wearing the 2nd tray without any further splitting. I emailed my dentist and he advised to continue wearing it unless they split completely. If they did happen to split completely then he said I should just move onto the next tray. I don't know if this advise was because it was tray 2, and the movement planned for my teeth at that particular time wasn't that major.. but I was still terrified of splitting my trays completely and having to move onto the next tray too early!
Onto tray 3 now. Hurts a lot on my bottom teeth when trying to remove the tray/putting it back in, but I'm trying to chew on my chewie as much as possible, so hopefully this will subside soon!
I can see a slight development when comparing my photographs today to the photographs pre-invisalign, I have posted below. I hope you can see some changes!
Oh and I have no lisp!!!
