For many years I had wanted a breast reduction, basically because dresses and blouses were very difficult to fit in properly. I never persued it because I had always heard it was difficult to get it covered by insurance. So over time the grooves in my shoulders became more and more painful, also they were showing through my clothing, it was embarrassing, to say the least. Then I started having numbness in my right arm that was irradiating down to my elbow and forearm. I sought out a chiropractor and he felt that breast reduction surgery would benefit me greatly. I contacted Parkcrest Plastic Surgery and scheduled an appointment with Dr. David Caplin. Everyone that I have encountered throughout this entire process has been helpful, kind, understanding and patient. I can not say enough to explain how wonderful of an experience this been. At my consultation Dr. Caplin explained the entire surgery, possible complications and confirmed that I was a good candidate for this procedure. I then spoke with his patient coordinator and she sent a pre-determination into my insurance company with all the necessary paperwork, proving it was medically necessary for me to have a breast reduction. A little over two weeks went by and they called me and said the surgery had been approved by my insurance company. I scheduled my surgery for 6 days later, not for one second did I doubt my decision or second guess Dr. Caplin and his genius. Post operatively things went very smooth, I stayed over night the day of the surgery, the nurses were wonderful. I went home with an anti-biotic and pain medicine, I had discomfort but not a lot of "pain". Reaching up and out took a few weeks to return to normal. I had tingling pain sensation for awhile when my nerves were reconnecting. Anyone who is contemplating having a breast reduction should seriously pursue it. This experience has been life changing for me. Not for one minute have I wished for my oversized breast back. Now I have 2 close to proportioned breast, that I call cupcakes!

Just goes to show how important a Dr. can make or break a surgery. I also had a breast reduction done a few years ago and was so unhappy with the procedure & results that I almost thought it was just the norm for this procedure. I had mine done by a female Dr. in St.Louis and she butchered my breasts & didn’t tighten the skin or lift them at all (which I assumed would be part of getting a reduction). Now they are more saggy then before and look so horrible from scaring. The worst part is my back pain never went away either :-(
