Do Not go to see Dr. Judith Gurley for your plastic surgeon needs!!! I am an RN and I truly believe she has emotional issues. NOT WHAT YOU WANT WITH A PLASTI SURGEON WORKING ON YOU!!! I was extremely disappointed with how she handled my post operative care. I met her once for my consultation and felt she was nice, supportive, professional, and confident in her surgical abilities due to all the positive reviews online. However, she decided the morning of my surgery, after marking me with her marker, to place two different size implants. She had asked me before leaving if that would be okay and I told her "totally" thinking whatever you have to do to make them look nice and symmetrical. The first thing I noticed when I woke up from surgery was that one breast was larger than the other. When I went in for my first post op visit 4 days later I asked her if she saw the size difference and if that was normal and when I could expect to see them look more symmetrical. She told me they looked great and that she couldn't see what I was talking about with the size difference. She was certainly taking the "avoid the subject" approach. It frustrated me that no matter what I said to try to get her to see the problem she NEVER validated my concern. She never admitted to seeing the size difference. So I thought okay I must just be seeing things, even though all of my friends and husband could see it. I could feel it under my arm and they even felt different sizes. She never once told me what I could expect. (In fact she never could tell me what to expect and given her expertise she should at least be able to do that so you have some sort of hope or plan if things don't turn out the way planned). Then I started wearing my regular clothes instead of baggy T-shirts and I noticed one side would ride up on the larger breast and get caught up so that my shirt hung lop sided! So the next time I went to see her I addressed that concern and she still denied seeing anything. It began to get very frustrating that she or her staff would not admit to seeing the problem. So one day I called to get my next appointment (because you go to see her weekly for 6 weeks post op) and told them I was not happy with the results. It had been 4 weeks and I could still see the size difference even though I could see the swelling had gone down significantly. The staff told me I needed to see Dr. Gurley then. When she walked in the room she immediately raised her voice and started reprimanding me for having these concerns. I was shocked! She had done a complete 180 degree turn around and she let me have it. She then was about to walk out the door with her hand on the door [RS bleep] after making me cry and telling me "Shame on you" when I had to take a deep breathe and try to start all over again with her. I told her we must be miscommunicating because we are not understanding the problem here. I never once accused her of doing anything wrong, but she sure acted like it! Needless to say, I had my husband (who is a surgeon as well) come with me on my last, 6 week appointment because if it were just me I wouldn't have gone. I was so uncomfortable at that appointment after how she had acted. It turned out to be one of the most frustrating and painful experiences, physically, emotionally, and mentally, I have ever endured with a doctor and I would never recommend her to anyone. There are too many competent and respectful and honest plastic surgeons out there to have to deal with this kind of care. I still haven't gotten the problem resolved, but now I am 7 weeks out and will be looking else where to fix my problem since I will not go under a knife with someone who can't even see what my concern is or know how to deal effectively with a post op problem/concern.
