Belly Must Go!

ORIGINAL POST

Hello real self readers! I'm writing this to hopefully provide some valuable information to someone else who may be considering liposuction. I had my first consult today with Dr. seal in St. John's, Canada. So far-so good. I'm interested in having lipo on my stomach. I'm about 5 foot and 6 inches and weigh about 165 pounds. I've been struggling with my weight ( I only seem to gain fat in my belly) for years and gave tried every diet out there. I have found it very very hard to get this belly fat gone. The plastic surgeon feels he can get about 750cc from my stomach. This doesn't sound like a lot though. I left his office feeling confident in him and his ability-he has been a practising plastic surgeon for 8 years-and feels I am a good candidate. The estimated cost is about 6,000 and I will be awake the whole time. That thought freaks me out. I am hoping to have lipo done in the near future. Please, if anyone reading this would like to offer me advice, ( good or bad) suggestions, anything I'd greatly appreciate!

I had lipo on my stomach for breast fat transfer, and my advice would be to make sure you take it easy after surgery. Don't bend over the first week. My stomach hurt the worse when I tried moving too mich after surgery. Definitely rest it. I have a scar that I don't like right under my belly button. I would have rather only had scars by my hips inside my underwear area, so they could have been more easily hidden. Make sure you're OK with the scar locations. My belly button scar is healing fine and not too noticeable, but I think I should have avoided that one. Hope that helps and best of luck with your procedure!

Thank you. Was your fat transfer a success? I've read mixed reviews on the amount of fat that stays. I'm going in for my final consult in a few days. He says I will only need 1 day off work. I'm being kept awake for the procedure. Eek. Makes me very nervous. Were u kept awake?

Excellent Experience (Given the Circumstances)

I had lipo done on my belly ( upper and lower) and love handles. I was extremely nervous about having the procedure done especially because I was going to be kept awake right thru it all. I arrived at the clinic at 815am. The nurse had me sign consent etc and then the surgeon came in and we discussed any last questions or concerns I had. He then marked up my body with a marker and that was that. The nurse came in and gave me 2 ativan and 2 Percocets. I didn't feel like they were working at all. At exactly 930am the surgeon and nurse came back in and took me across the hall to the procedure room. The doctor stated first by numbing me and then went on to take out 2100ccs of fat. I was finished at 11:30 ish. I remember thinking " God help me" when he told me he was going to start. I can honestly say I felt 0 pain or discomfort from the numbing process. I didn't even realize that this was finished ( he had told me that was probably the most uncomfortable part) until I noticed blogs of fat moving through the tubes. I did feel an immense amount of pain twice when he was liposuctining but it was just a second each time. Nothing I couldn't deal with because it was over just as quick as it begun. I watched as the gross fat was taken out of my belly into the canisters. I was carefree and pretty cool during the whole thing ( those pills probably worked) because I was an absolute basket case the night and morning of the procedure. I was driven home ( I live only 5 minutes from clinic) and I went to bed. I had a little pain which was easily fixed with extra strength Tylenol that first day. I did sleep most of the day and night. On the second day I felt good. I changed my bandages and rested. I only had 2 small incisions that were stitched with dissolving stitches. On day 2 I was allowed to shower. No pain whatsoever beyond day 1 I am wearing the horrid compressive garment which is very uncomfortable but necessary. My experience was a breeze. I had a certified board surgeon ( make sure you do too) who took the time to honestly answer all my questions and concerns. I am now on day 3 and I went shopping today. I do have bruising but nothing I can't deal with. Please feel free to ask me anything that you are wondering about or anything that might help your experience be a positive one.

Did dr seal discuss the possibility of a TT and price?
Also have you been wearing a faja for compression?

My god - I’m only seeing your queStion now - yes he discusses tummy tuck but that was something I didn’t want or felt I needed. Price was about 8 grand for tt.
