Overall rating

The surgery came out very good. I would give the results an 8 out of 10. Each time I was seen prior to surgery I had a $45. co-pay. Rather than having the doctor talk to me while I was already there I was told i'd need another appointment...hence another $45. co-pay. After several co-payments I was sensing a pattern. At my stitch removal appointment one week after surgery I was told I needed a follow-up in a few months to check my progress. I specifically asked the receptionist if there would be yet another $45. co-pay. She assured me that there would be no charge since it was part of my surgery cost. Unbelievably I received a bill in the mail for that visit. After speaking with billing I was told my appt was past the 3 month follow-up time and is billable. I explained that I should have been told that and the receptionist should have known that and made it sooner...especially after I specifically asked that question regarding co-pay charge. I feel that I was purposely misled. Why would there be any charges for a follow-up to a surgery that I have paid thousands for and based on what I was told. I was told sorry but that's our policy. I was very happy with my surgery but due to the co-pay games, which cost me hundreds extra, I would never use this doctor again. The price you are given for surgery is not the actual price you'll pay in the end after co-pays. Reasoning with them got me no where. Using my insurance for the surgery cost me more than if I had not because it opened the door to endless co-pay charges. Too many games to make an extra buck.
