Small surgery with BIG results!! I could not be happier with Dr. Covici and his staff! I live in CT but found him when searching and knew right then he was my guy!! From his amazing skill, to awesome, warm bedside manor, this is who you want cutting your face! So many things can go wrong with someone inexperienced, which I've witnessed on others, so I did not take this decision lightly! I had tried botox to achieve a "lift" which somewhat worked years ago, but at 63 it was just not working any longer. Although "subtle" it's night and day to me, if that makes sense. Every day get's better and there was zero pain for me, just a little "discomfort" that was tolerable. I took Tylenol twice, that's it! If you're on the fence with this procedure, and especially this doctor, don't be! Like others, I wish I had done it sooner and I'm so excited about what feels like a mini facelift! We're only as old as we feel, and I'm not there yet!!
Great medical office, wonderful and warm experience from start to finish. Dr. Steven Covici is such a skilled, talented and detail oriented surgeon. Dr. Covici performed bilateral eyelid surgery on me on 1/4/24 and the results were beyond my expectations. I support a 5 star plus rating for this amazing surgeon and quality of care I received and strongly would recommend Dr. Covici to anyone considering eyelid procedure.
Excellent surgeon who takes the time to consult with you. Dr Covici took the time to address mh goals, showed my multiple photo books of previous work and set realistic expectations. Dr. Covici has a kind and gentle manor approach with excellent bedside manner. I have recieved the ultimate in care I just had my surgery today and am already so pleased with my results, I was afraid in the OR and he put me at ease.
I met with Dr. Covici back in December 2022 to talk with him about having surgery for the sagging pouches under my eyes, and my drooping upper eyelids. I always looked tired, and old. Although I still feel young at 63. After meeting with Dr. Covici I instantly knew that I wanted him to perform the surgery. He was very kind and reassuring. I felt comfortable with him right away. It's been 6 weeks since I had my surgery in Jan. 2023 and I am so pleased and extremely happy with the outcome! I would highly recommend Dr. Covici.
Dr. Covici is a true genius! He is exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced. All of his staff are professional and caring especially, Xinh (Sing). Each process was clearly explained in a manner that removes any fear. The surgery was seamless and the aftercare comprehensive and assuring. I highly recommend this practice as I drove 1 1/2 hours to be treated by Dr. Covici even though there are numerous surgeons near me but none as talented and trusting to me my expectations.
Dr Covici is a warm and caring doctor. Dr Covici and entire staff take so much time in explaining treatment options and procedures tailored to you. Procedure itself was quick and painless. Aftercare in/out of office was easy with several follow up appointments. What an easy way to make you feel better about yourself and give you a lift to your eyes and overall facial expression.
My initial encounter with Dr. Steven Covici was due to an at home injury to my left eye. In short, I had a lower orbital blowout with eye entrapment. My wife and I were beyond scared thinking how this could be repaired and yet keep my vision. Dr. Covici quickly stabilized our fears with his humble demeanor and truthful explanation of the surgery required restoring my quality of life. The results of my eye surgery and the treatment and excellent care at both his office and Chestnut St. Surgery were beyond excellent. Recovery was long, but I continued to follow Dr. Covici's orders and, today, I am completely recovered. To view me today, you could never tell the serious, traumatic injury I inflicted. I am extremely pleased with the top-notch care I received and would not hesitate to recommend this skilled surgeon to anyone!
It was so important to me that my eye lid surgery results looked as natural as possible. Dr. Covici assured me in my consultation and I trusted him and his expertise. I am thrilled with the result! He and his team are super talented! And I no longer look tired! I look like me - only refreshed! I no longer obsess in the mirror at my heavy, drooping lids. Oh, happy day! I felt genuinely cared for throughout the entire process. It was a quick and painless procedure. I went out to dinner the next night with my glasses on, which hid the mild bruising. It was an easy recovery. I should have done it sooner!
Dr. Covici and his staff are amazing. My expectations were high at my first appointment with Dr. Covici as he was recommended by both my primary care physician and my regular eye doctor when I required surgery on my eyes. But Dr. Covici and his team exceeded my expectations. He was very detailed in his explanation of the surgery and took as much time as I needed to answer my many questions. And as a pleasant surprise, Brittany from his office called me the day following my consultation appointment to simply ask if I had any additional questions or if she could help in any way. The professionalism of Dr. Covici, his assistant, Xinh, and his entire team made me feel very at-ease at the time of surgery and were very helpful post-surgury. I'm not only so pleased with results of the surgery, but they made the process very smooth.
Always told my whole life what pretty eyes I have. They are my favorite feature. I'm half Italian and half Polish. They used to be contoured and lifted, almond shaped with a well-defined crease but the past decade the Polish features started taking over. Puffy, heavy, loss of definition and crease. I used eyeshadow to define and create the look of my crease. Even that these past years wasn't working so well because you could still see the puffy, heaviness through where I was putting the darker shadows to give the illusion of a crease. About 4 years ago I developed a chalazion under my eyelid. I was referred to Dr. Steven Covici by my primary physician. Sitting in the waiting room to have the chalazion addressed, I noticed on the wall that he is an eyelid specialist and saw literature that he performs cosmetic procedures. While in having the chalazion taken care of, I asked if he performs upper eyelid lifts. He said yes and took out a wire template that he held up to against my eyelid to show me what the results might end up looking like. WOW, there was my eyelid I hadn't seen in quite a long time and the crease that I used to have when I was in my twenties. I inquired about costs and downtime, etc. I thought about that day often. I continually attempted to save for the procedure and then to find the time that I would need to take off (only 1 week). Well, during the past 5 years, I began 2 businesses that I own and run. As busy as I became, and I know everyone is, I never stopped thinking about when I would have the procedure done. One day recently, February 2016, I was again putting on eyeshadow, a lighter color on the lid and a darker color in the crease and noticed that it didn't really give me the illusion of having a crease but more looked like darker puffiness. Even trying to create that illusion was really not working so well anymore. I am not kidding, I went right to my phone and called Dr. Covici's office and scheduled an official upper eyelid lift consultation right there and then! I knew this was it, I had the money and well, there was never going to be the perfect time so decided I'd just schedule it and let things fall into place from there. I have to tell you, from already having met Dr. Steven Covici from the appointment for my chalazion, I knew when I was going to have it done, there would be no one other than him that I was going to go to. He has the best personality and demeanor! He explains things so well, doesn't set you up for unrealistic expectations, is professional but has an amazing sense of humor and you are at ease from the get go!!! During the consultation he answered any and all questions as well as his staff. He actually has a physician's assistant on his staff that has had this procedure done and she came in and shared her experience with me and what I might expect post procedure. At the end of my consultation, I scheduled my procedure and paid for it. I left with a date just like that! I had decided to have it done and had decided there was going to be no hesitation or procrastination on my behalf. I had thought, thought, and thought some more about wanting to have this done for so long, this was it! The day of the procedure, I just couldn't wait until my appointment time to get there, knowing once it was done, I could begin my recovery. Of course, I made a bigger deal of it in my own mind than it truly was. I thought his office would be closed to everyone else except me with all hands on deck needed for my procedure. What a pleasant surprise to find that the office was running normally with other people there in the waiting room. That relaxed me more than anything. It wasn't going to take an entire village to perform the procedure after all, lol! Lori, Dr. Covici's amazing assistant came in and answered some more questions that had come up for me. I wasn't just led into the procedure room for the doctor to get started, he actually came into the room I was in to see how I was doing and answer any last minute questions I might have. I will have to tell you, once I got into his office and signed in, I was already relaxed and relieved. This was it, I was having it done and in a short while, I'd be heading home to recover. They led me into the procedure room which was so comfortable and relaxing, I couldn't believe it. There was really nice soft music playing in the background, not classical but very mellow tunes. I had already taken the prescription to relax me in the other room a short time earlier so had begun relaxing and told him I didn't think I felt that I'd fall asleep and he told me that was fine. That I could talk with him during the procedure and that he'd talk to me. I felt the couple of needles injected near my eyebrows and just relaxed during it because I knew that was to numb everything. I knew after the couple of seconds it took for these injections that I wasn't going to feel anything else after that, so I just relaxed during it. We talked back and forth and before I knew it, he told me he was done with one eye and moving onto the next. I can't begin to tell you how shocked I was because I really hadn't felt a thing and just having nice conversation back and forth, well, I was so pleasantly surprised! Honestly, before I knew it, he was done and I was able to get up and walk out and the excitement of knowing I did it took over me!!! I was so proud that I didn't put it off any longer because it really was nothing. Like I said earlier, I had made a bigger deal of it in my own mind than it really was! Later that evening, Dr. Covici called himself to see how I was doing. I was had been resting and drowsy at that point but could not believe he made that call himself. He has an amazing staff and any one of them could have made the phone call to see how I was doing but he did it himself. I can't tell you how special that made me feel that he cared enough to call himself! I decided not to look or analyze or expect anything for a few days. I just focused on resting and following post-procedure instructions. I had an appointment to have my stitches removed a week after my procedure and by the time of that appointment, I had no bruising at all and most of my swelling had already gone done. I couldn't wait for Dr. Covici and his staff to see how well I was healing! Lori, his assistant that had been in the room with us during the procedure, removed the stitches in both eyes in less than a minute. 2 snips and they pulled right out. Every single day I can see more and more of the results of the upper eyelid lift. Dr. Covici nailed it!!! He didn't do too much but did enough that I cannot stop looking at myself in the mirror!!! I've been told I look 15 years younger! I have the eyes I had in my 20's and 30's. I love it!!!! Why oh why did I wait so long but I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer. I have another follow-up appointment in a few more weeks and again, can't wait for Dr. Covici and his staff to see me!!! I love my eyes. Even if there was some reason he wouldn't have been able to do this procedure, I love me eyes. I love wearing makeup but didn't want to HAVE to wear makeup. I had no lid exposed for shadow and had little to no crease left to put shadow into. Funny thing, now I'm not sure I'm going to want to wear eye makeup. I've personally chosen not to apply any until my final follow-up appointment. But, my eyes look so good, I'm not sure why I would apply eyeshadow! I sure didn't expect that but I bet when I do wear finally wear eyeshadow, it's going to look amazing!!! I cannot thank Dr. Steven Covici and his staff enough for making this the best thing I've ever done for myself! It's changed me and I didn't expect that. It's not just a physical appearance change but I feel different about myself. I'm emotionally excited and feel it is a catalyst for other changes such as exercising more regularly, eating even healthier. I just feel different in an even more positive way and believe me, I'm already a positive person! Thank you Dr. Covici and your staff, you are remarkable, you've given me more than you'll ever know!!! :)
From the photo, it looks like this area is either swelling, or edema. These are often called festoons. This is most likely the case if the swollen area is worse in the morning or if you sleep on your left side. It could also be fat. In either respect, creams are probably not going to be helpful. The lower lids are a common place to collect extracellular fluid. I would first recommend seeing your primary care doctor to see if you have any thyroid irregularities or other areas of edema. Once a medical problem has been eliminated, you could consider a lower eyelid lift. This will often improve the crease, but may not completely resolve it. I would recommend seeing a qualified oculo-facial plastic surgeon in your area for a comprehensive evaluation. Good luck!.
The most common cause of lower eyelid bags is the forward migration of fat in the lower eyelid or orbit. The fat can be sculpted and redistributed to provide a smoother contour to the lower lid. This procedure is called a lower lid blepharoplasty or eyelid lift. If there is wrinkling of the skin, a pinch of skin can be removed to improve this. If the skin is not wrinkled, the surgery can be performed from the inside of the eyelid eliminating a skin incision. Sometimes if the bags are not very severe, you can place fillers, such as Juvederm or Restylane, below the bags which helps camouflage them. Creams are ineffective. If your bags are worse in the morning, you can try sleeping with your head elevated and avoid salty foods. Good luck.
The dark area underneath your eyes appear to be located more towards your nasal lower lid, as opposed to your lateral lower lid. This area is called the "tear trough deformity" and is partially due to the very thin skin in this area. The skin is so thin that the muscle underneath the skin casts a dark hue. Based on your photo, which is quite dark, I think filler in this area is your best bet. I have not had much success with creams over the years. A tinted moisturizer or cover up can work well...even in men.
You are correct that neurotoxins such as botox are temporary corrections for horizontal forehead lines. The best surgical option for forehead rejuvination, in a person with a high hairline, is a Tricophytic Forehead lift. In this procedure, the incision is made at the junction where the forehead meets the hair. It offers wrinkle reduction, eyebrow elevation and does NOT raise the hairline. A disadvantage is the possibility of an incision scar. Endoscopic brow/forehead lifts will recede the hair line further causing your forehead to appear larger.
A good rule of thumb is that approximately 70-80% of the bruising and swelling will go away in the first 2 - 3 weeks. The remaining 20 - 30% will resolve over many months. This is a general statment and you may heal quicker or slower. In general, the more time you can take off work to heal, the better of you are. I think 14 days may be the best case scenario.
