After losing 110 pounds I became a fitness instructor and personal trainer but no amount of exercise will get rid of my tummy. Today is the day - nervous and excited. I'm having a full tummy tuck with diastasis recti repair and flank lipo. This is my birthday present to myself as I turn 50 years old in a few months!

Wow! The pain!!!

Don't underestimate the pain you might have. I have a high tolerance and the muscle repair is really painful. I'm on Percocet and Soma. Getting out of bed is excruciating. I've been sleeping on and off all day.

After surgery doctors comments:

I had 2 hernias from all the exercising and weight lifting I do. This was a surprise. She fixed those and sutured my abdominal wall back together - very wide separation. She removed 3 pounds of skin but I didn't have much fat to remove. Thanks to being a fitness instructor. The funny thing is that when I look in the mirror I see "fat" - it was nice to hear the doctor say I was lean. I've worked so hard for this.

So, the abdominal wall can be fixed? I have weak stomach muscles and my surgeon says it cannot be repaired.

I had a 2" gap between the right and left sides that would never go back together. They permanently sutured them together. My ab muscles are strong - just not connected. That's why I had 2 hernias that she fixed.
