Over a month ago, I got this tattoo on my wrist. I have contemplated getting this specific tattoo for over a year, and it is my own design. I have a major love for reading and the semi colon was meant to show my story never ends. It was meant to be something that inspired me everyday. Instead, it has caused me nothing but grief and regret. Within a week of getting it, I scheduled an apoointment to get a consultation for removal. Now I just don't know what I want. I like it some days and some days I don't. I feel like it looks off or wrong and I hate myself for getting it. But then I think it looks great the next. So, needless to say, I'm posting it to the world to see what your thoughts are on this immediate regret as well as my removal success rate. Truly, I just want to feel comfortable in my own skin again and not be so hard on myself.

I'm going through the same... I don't know what to tell you, I think your tattoo looks cool and the idea behind it is nice but the most important thing is how you feel about it. I'm considering removal myself but I don't want to rush another HUGE decision from which there's no coming back. I think you should wait as well, let the emotions go down a bit. Maybe it's just that uou have to get used to it? :)

Thanks! I agree I've set a date for myself to decide before rushing into a decision. I'm still on the fence. I keep telling myself it's not a big deal, but sometimes I'm hard on myself for even getting it to begin with.

I like it! It's simple but meaningful. It shows personality without being obnoxious. Like my tattoo mess on my chest lol. Don't be worried what other people think about it because it's a great tattoo. If anything, people will be intrigued and wonder what it means to you.

However, it isn't my opinion, or anyone else's opinion that matters. It's about how you feel. Why do you think it looks "off" or "wrong" specifically?

Thank you for your kind words! They help more than you could know. I know it is ultimately up to me and how I feel.

To be honest, I think it's just the shock of it right there on my body and I see it every day. It's almost like a shame as well as a regret.

Hey, I personally like it , it's simple but meaningful . Whilst you are swaying back and forth between love and hate with it just do nothing. You really shouldn't start removal until you are 100% sure that it's what you want . You may learn to love it, it's always s massive shock when there's a permanent change to our body and it could just be shock that you're going through . Good luck x

I agree, thank you for your advice! I really appreciate it. I'm waiting until a certain date to make a final decision and trying to learn to be okay with it in the meantime. We shall see!

I love it, it's so small and probably won't stop you from getting a job. But I totally understand where you are coming from I'm going through the same thing!

Thank you :). It's been a weird couple months for sure.
UPDATED FROM fogey13

Consultation

I went to the consultation and was told $250 per session for removal and they weren't sure how long it would take because every removal was different. The doctor was nice and very clear about everything. I still have not officially made a decision. I am waiting a little while longer to decide. I want to be 100% sure. I have contemplated a local piercing shop that does a form of tattoo removal called Tattoo Vanish, anyone ever heard of it? Or have had success with it? I'm exploring options until I decide and trying to remind myself that it's just a tattoo and it's not the worst tattoo out there :)

I'm so glad you've joined us -- and I'm thrilled that you're getting some support here. The first stages of regret can feel overwhelming, you're doing the right thing -- thinking things through, going for consultations. Hi there, have you started your removal journey yet?

Not yet. Growing used to it and most days enjoy it. I know eventually I will get it removed though. I'll post my progress on here if I do :)
