I wanted to have labiaplasty because I didn't like the way I looked in my swimsuit and tight clothing. I wear a lot of g-strings and also get Brazilian waxes. As I've aged, I feel like everything just sticks out. I was also hoping sex would be more enjoyable by not having to adjust the excess bulk.

One thing I am worrying about is that I may have needed more tissue removed like my majora and clitoris hood. I hope that I will be satisfied with just labiaplasty. In time I will know.

Yes, in time you'll see the difference. I was worried about mine too, I thought enough wasn't taking out... but the more I look at other people's pictures I'm glad I did not take too much off. I like the natural look. You're healing just as I was, and I got the wedge technique too. I'm also 38 with 2 kids! I don't have a thick outer labia so I'm pretty little down there. She only needed to trim a tiny piece off that stuck a little. But good luck! You look great!

Day 3 Labiaplasty

User Avatar

it's day 3 today. I woke up in the night and couldn't believe how
much the swelling had gone down! I slept better but still got up earlier than usual.
I've been keeping the area clean with Witches Hazel, I just dab a little on with a nonstick pad.
I put triple ointment cream on this morning for the first time. I felt a little itching begin to start and the ointment seemed to helped.
I'm drinking 2-3 liters of water a day, trying to keep my urin crystal
clear.
I will ice until 1pm today. After that ice won't help the swelling very much. So, I plan to switch to heat to help with circulation.

So far things are going great! I did notice when I woke up I had very little swelling but after walking around for 5 minutes I began to swell again. So I hurried up and layer back down, elevated my legs and started watching Netflix.

Heat will irritated it more! I used ice for 1 week straight. I stop the ointment after 3 days. Ointment can cause inflammation and make the healing longer. You want to keep the area clean and dry after the 3rd day. Too much moisture can cause the sutures to come apart. Drinking water to great! You should take Bromelain for the swelling. I did not put nothing on my area beside the ointment. (3 days). Every time I pee, I used a spray bottle to keep clean and pat dry. The simplier the better. Too much of everything can make it worst.

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it. Bromelian? I'll need to look that up. I'm not sure what that is. In my post-opt notes it says to only ice for 48 hours and then switch to heat. Hum? Tomorrow will be 72 hours. I'll make sure not to put ointment on and keep things dry. How long did you wait before taking a shower? My post-opt notes say wait 72 hours. I was worried about water weakening my sutures. I like your less is more advice!

No way! I took a shower the very next day. I took a quick shower though. I did not soap the area, I let the soap stud run down it. I pat it dry. I took a shower everyday! Normally I take 2 showers, but for the first week I only took 2. Why would your surgeon tell you to heat it?? That would def not be good at all. Wow! Like I said, I used a squirt bottle every time I pee to wash away the any germs, so I don't think it effected my sutures. I'm healing great and no loose stitches. The stitches I have are monocryl, ask your doc what type you have. Make an ice pack for yourself ; 2 ziplock bag, fill it with Dawn soap detergent. You can alternate. It's very helpful and you can use it when you have to sit up. Wear a summer dress as much as you can, and ice it.

I meant, the first week I only showered once a day. Sorry... haha

I haven't had any problem with not showering for 72 hours. I'm staying clean without getting in the shower. I think the idea is to allow healing and get all the little bleeding spots to stop. Which they have now! Yay! I'm going to take a quick shower tomorrow but I don't really need it.
After the first 48 hours ice doesn't help with swelling. Heat helps with circulation and circulation promotes faster healing. That's the concept anyhow.

Ok. Different things works for different people. :). Good healing!

You don't need heat to circulated. Your bottom is like your lips/mouth... it won't freeze, don't worry. Please do not put heat on the area. It's already swollen and still very fresh. Keep icing it! :)

It's not as bad as it looks. My biggest concern was making sure I took enough time off work. I took one week with the option of a few more days if needed.

I so wanna get this done but Im
so scared of the pain healing. Also the price.

Make sure to call around, find a good doc that is competitively priced. Depending on what you need done it shouldn't be to much. I really think us women deserve it. It's probably one of the best investments on myself I'll make. But I am going to go back and have more work done. That's kinda a bummer to me. I wish I would of had everything done at once.!

Isn't it so fascinating that everyone recommendeds different things!!! Some say sit in a bath at 2 weeks to dissolve stitches, my surgeon says 6 weeks and leave stitches well alone! I'm 3 weeks and still icing! It reduces the redness and the puffyness after moving all day and is really good at helping with the itchiness! Only for a bit when I'm sat at night and I've found it invaluable. I do understand the heat thing, I know that ice causes the blood vessels to constrict and stops them from being permeable, then there's no fluid to cause swelling. But there is then less blood flow and it's the contents of the blood which heals!! Platelets etc. but then swelling inhibits effective blood flow too! So I definitely agree with both sides to an extent, it's just what works for you and what ever you are most comfortable with. ive bought some coconut oil as reading about it on here everyone says it's brilliant! But my surgeon said to leave well alone and just use water till 6 weeks! So I can't bring myself to use it cus he said no?! Ha! X

That's the way I am too. I am following my post-op notes to a T. I paid my doctor so I might as well use my own doctor. Lol! I appreciate all the recommendations tho and I love learning. But at the end of the day I am going by my doctors recommendations. I actually LOVE coconut oil. I've been using it for years. I have a little warmer on the back o my toilet where I keep the oil liquified. It's easier to apply that way. Anyhow, every night I use it a lotion. I put it on my entire body. After I brush my teeth with tooth paste I then brush them with coconut oil. Lol! I haven't been using my coconut oil since surgery tho. Once I'm healed I'll get back to my routine. My doctor said my stitches should start coming out in two weeks. If they haven't then I need to go in and he will remove them.

Day 4

User Avatar
Party349
Day 4. Swelling has gone down even more today and bruising is starting to fade. I slept like crap last night. I ended up getting up, taking a pain pill, applying ice and watching the discovery channel at 2:30 in the morning. Anyhow, today is better. I just needed more sleep. I'm still drinking 2-3 liters of water a day. I'm still laying in bed with a pillow under my knees. I feel like I could get up and do anything but I want to make sure I give my body the healing boost it needs so I am just taking it easy. I plan on staying on bed rest until Saturday morning. That will be 5 full days. I ate like crap last night and since I'm just laying around it made me feel like more crap. Today I am going to have a very clean diet and I'm looking forward to redeeming myself from yesterday. Lol!

Sounds like a brilliant plan! I rested from Thursday morning when I was discharged till Monday morning! And even then I was just pottering and I was absolutely exhausted and napped everyday! What you said above about your skin by your bum, the wedge would definitely have lifted it up and you'll prob find once your swelling goes down and your colour returns to normal you'll be able to see your true result. On my first day I had a huge lump in that area and I was horrified?!! I thought I was going to be left with a piece of skin hanging. I'm 3 weeks now and it's shrunk loads but still very hard and full of stitches so it will basically disappear. Also in that area I would rather have a bit "loose-ish" than have it too tight! But I definitely wouldn't discourage you if 6 months down the line you wanted it trimmed, if I felt the same I would too! But I think once your swelling reduces you'll be able to see for sure, you looking fabulous so far! I had the trim and I kind of wish I had the wedge too as its def more natural, but the surgeons I saw said I was more suited to the trim method and I was keen then. I'm heaps happier than I was before! And can't wait to be fully healed and normal in a couple of months time. Some people are fully healed and fully functional by 4 weeks, I don't think I will be at all! Still tender, Pinchy, my stitches pull. Couldn't imagine having sex! Ha x
