6 months on!

So, here I am. All healed and back to normal (I say normal, still have to be careful when lying on my front.) I stopped writing reviews as I was in and out of my doctors. My tiny 'skin deep' opening.. turned into a huge gigantic hole that wouldn't heal.. It got deeper and deeper. After weeks and weeks of going to see the nurses every other day, I finally went to see my surgeon. Who had to dig the cells out of the hole. It then finally started to heal. The scar in that area is now a lot thicker than the rest, such a shame. However, I am so grateful that I was able to have this life changing op. It really has given me all the confidence back that I had lost over the years. Which is priceless in my eyes.

3 weeks post op today

Swelling is still in full swing but I know it's going to take months for this to go and to see the final result. But I got to see my belly button for the first time today.. it's so tiny and cute! So happy with it. I've got a couple of areas where the skin isn't meeting but fingers crossed it will heal nicely, keeping a close eye on it and seeing the nurse regularly and she doesn't seem worried. I still can't stand up 100% and can't lie down any other way than on my back. I'm struggling to wear trousers as the incision and my whole tummy is so sensitive, it doesn't hurt as bad as it did but I just feel so fragile. So I'm still wearing baggy clothes when I can. The compression garment is still on 95% of the time. I'm also getting tired very quickly and lying down when I can. I've been shopping etc but everything is such an effort and so tiring. Kids on half term this week so wish me luck!

2 weeks post op!

I was hoping I'd be up and dressed, standing up straight, leaving the house and possibly driving by today but not a chance.. so many people seem to be recovering a lot quicker than I am. Not sure why? I've got my second appointment with the nurse tomorrow so will see what she says. My incision has opened slightly (only skin deep) in a few places so I've steri-stripped along the majority to try and encourage it back together. I'm still sleeping with two pillows under my head and 3 under my knees. Still spending a lot of time lying / sitting down as walking for more than 5 mins really hurts my back as I'm not standing up 100% straight. I really want to but I physically can't! I put normal clothes on for 2 mins to take a picture but straight back into pajamas.. any tight clothing on my incision really hurts!
