So it's been 11 months since completing accutane and my acne is coming back:( first it was tiny little zits which didn't bother me as much now it's huge painful ones that take weeks to heal. I've also been diagnosed with GERD. Before taking accutane I've never had stomach problems in my life! Please if your reading this don't take accutane, it's not worth it, I feel more depressed now and pissed off I made this terrible decision to take this medicine. Guess I'm stuck with shitty skin for the rest of my damn life. Accutane was a waste of my time and health!

See if you are Gluten or Lactose sensitive. Food allergies OR food sensitivities can cause acne that does NOT clear up until you remove the food from your diet for good.

I'm on a strict vegan diet and the only grains I eat are sprouted grains. I'm hoping that my breakouts will stop within a year or so with this diet. But yea I diff think I have food sensitivities for sure especially since Accutane messed up my stomach.

Don't give up! I was on Accutane twice and recently started breaking out again. If only dermatologists would explain what acne is and try natural remedies we would be so much better off!! I couldn't go through another 6-8 months of Accutane, because it made me gain weight and feel like I was going to cry all time. Acne is caused by 2 things that work together to give you crappy skin- DHT and acne causing bacteria. The biggest issue is hormonal. You need to control a hormone called DHT, a type of testosterone (women have it too). DHT causes increase sebum production and a hyper-proliferation of skin cells which allows acne bacteria to thrive. I started taking 2 DHT inhibitors and they really worked, no pimples since I started, and the red marks are fading fast. I take saw palmetto and l-lysine 1,000 mg each twice per day. These are easy to find and inexpensive. I got mine at the local grocery store. There are other DHT inhibitors out there like green tea extract, but I didn't try that. L-lysine is an essential amino acid and boosts the immune system as well. Since taking saw palmetto, my hair is thicker and 2-3 annoying hairs under my chin disappeared. Best of luck to you! Don't give up; you deserve clear skin too!!!

7th month update

Lolaseymour
I finally completed 7 months of accutane a week ago , I still get a small zit maybe every 2 weeks which scares the [RS bleep] out of me, does that mean my dreadful acne will come back??? Did I do this for nothing? So far the only side effects I had this last month is dry scalp and eyes. No more joint pain, headaches, bloody nose, dry lips. I feel very depressed though but then again I wasn't a very happy person before accutane cuz of the emotional and physical scarring my [RS bleep] acne battle left me with. Now I have fears of acne coming back like other reviews I read there acne came back:( I wish I could just move on w my life and not think about this [RS bleep], just wanna put this nightmare behind me and move on. Good luck to u all on your accutane journey.

Your skin looks amazing! It really does! :) I know it's incredibly frustrating to still get pimples during your course. My skin didn't clear until my 5th month on Accutane and even then I still had blackheads. As soon as my 6 month course ended I broke out a little. I totally panicked and felt like you; was this all for nothing?! I'm almost 4 months post Absorica and my skin isn't perfect. I have scarring and I still have acne, but it is so incredibly mild in comparison to when I started last August. Even if your acne comes back, it shouldn't be as severe and your skin may be much more responsive to topicals. Don't lose faith. For so many of us, our skin looks better off the medication than it did in the last few months of Accutane. I know how you feel though and my heart goes out to you. No one should have to ever deal with acne. Just remember that you are absolutely gorgeous! :)

You're welcome! :) I really mean it though. You are so beautiful with or without acne! I think you're going to have amazing results! If you get a pimple here or there try not to panic. It's totally normal. Even people without acne still get a pimple or even a break out every now and then. It's crummy, but I suppose that's just life. It kind of dawned on me one day as I was looking at one of my best friends thinking how gorgeous she was and how perfect her skin was. Then the lighting changed and I could see that her skin looks just like mine! So many successful, beautiful women out there have acne, scars and imperfections. All this is to say that your acne probably doesn't make a bit of a difference to those who love you. They see you as more than the state of your skin. I wish someone had told me that years ago and I had actually believed them lol (that's the tough part; believing that when your confidence is non existent and you're just exhausted from struggle). And thank you! My skin isn't perfect, bu I'm still thrilled with my results :)

Month 6 on accutane

Lolaseymour
I'm 2 days in on month 6 of accutane ,I was happy with how my skin was improving till about a week ago. I woke up with a hard red lump by my nose and it just won't come to a head and go away. My derm said its a cyst . I'm shocked and disappointed because I never had one of these before. I got two months left of accutane . This scares me, why am I getting this monster zit this far along???? The side effects I've been having is joint pain, dry lips, pain shooting down my right leg to the point where I feel like I can't move, that happened twice, my tail bone really hurts. Wonder if anybody experience this side effect, dry eyes and nose bleeds are gone. Still got eczema on hands and now under my nose and mouth, the eczema gets so enflamed at night around my nose after taking makeup off . Also I get so tired easily , don't exercise anymore, I gained 7 pounds in 6 months, this sucks:( I'm so ready to be done with accutane
