Hi, first of all sorry for my bad english, I'm a girl, 22 years old and in january I have made the worst mistake of my life, I had my buccal fat pad removed (bichectomía) and now I have two dents under my cheekbones, it makes me look older, now I'm trying to fix it with fat grafting or submalar cheek implants, but i have to travel to another country for this! please never do this! I'm really sad about this, I don't even want to hang out with my friends, but i try to go to my university and try to study but I can't even concentrate.
I'm not sure of fat grafting because I was reading that it can makes appear lumps.
Please think before doing this surgery, this fat will never come back.

So sorry sweet lady that this happened to you too. If you try and gain weight it won't help your cheeks as they took away the fat cells and it will look even more odd.
May 15, 2015
It does look like they took too much fat away because you have hollowness below your cheek. You might be able to use FILLER, but see a DIFFERENT Doctor about it. Your skin is really nice and looks young from this photo. Do you have entire face photos of before an after? I understand some people do not like to post their entire face for their own reasons. If you can get to NV, DR H SHAH in Henderson can fix the situation for you or ask him on this board. Hugs :)

Thank you, I took your advice. I went to a different doctor for hyaluronic ácid. It does not look like before, but I think i like it. Hope I can find a permanent solution for this.

Were you skinny before you went for this surgery?
June 4, 2015
Yes. I am skinny and always had chubby cheeks now I want them back, I hate this older look I have.

It looks great! Don't do fillers! You look like a fashion model now with sculpted cheekbones. you just have to change your perspective on your NEW cheeks :)
June 16, 2015
Fillers have helped a little, there is no more those hollows below my malar bones, but it dotes not look like my skin, I don't know how to explain this. There are like little línes around it.
I look older without the hyaluronic acid, I don't want to imagine how i will look in a few years.

people with chubby cheeks age once a decade so you dont have to worry about your cheeks changing anytime soon. I would stop with the fillers

I don't now that to do

This year is by far the worst year I have ever had.
Two months ago people started to ask me if i am sick.
When I saw me in the mirror two months ago I knew something was wrong, my smile did not have life, I started to examine my face, i turned my face down and I noticed what was wrong:
My cheeks were too much sunken
Inmediatly I tried to contact the Doctor who did the buccal fat removal but he had traveled.
I contacted other doctor from a near country to mine and he told me that the solution for me is fat transfer, he told me that "of course there will be lumps, it is part of the process, but with time they will disappear".
Doctor who extracted my buccal fat pads went back to my country and I told him I was very unhappy and that I wanted my old cheeks back. At first he tried to convice me that I looked good and was very defensive, then he told me he could do fat transfer and also that he "will not be responsable if fat transfer goes wrong".
(It seems like in my country doctors don't have so much experience with fat transfer to that área of the face)
I inmediatly went out from that place and started to search for help on the internet, I did not go to university for a few days, I wrote to doctors from other countries near mine and talked with three of them on skype (there is just one doctor that has told me that saw people with that same problem with buccal fat pad removal but he didn't convice me, I am planning to call him this week, he is from Argentina)
Finally I found this page and started to read all those bad reviews about buccal fat pad removal and I realized that I have made big mistake.
I went to another doctor and he told me that he has never done fat transfer under the malar bones and that a safe solution for me is hyaluronic acid.
I have hyaluronic acid in both cheeks now, at first it did not look good, there were like línes around the place where doctor put the filler, but now is a little better.
Well, as my mom says "por algo pasan las cosas".
I have also read that review about lyophilized cartilage, it is like a safe solution and a good idea. I have contacted Klinik Professor Sailer and have talked with them but the price.......it is so much expensive, taking into account that my country is one of the poorest countries in my continent.
Also, there are not photos about submalar augmentation in Professor Sailer page, so...
I don't know what to do...
I am trying to be strong and trying to do the best I can do at university.
I don't want to live putting fillers in my cheeks and spending so much money for them for the rest of my life.

Sorry I mean "I don't know what to do"
The autocorrect of my cellphone is in spanish.

I am so sorry. I try to tell everyone not to have fat ever taken out. I would just use fillers for now and wait awhile longer. Removing fat either causes skin to cave in or sag unless it is in an area that can be LIFTED after fat is removed, such as lower face, turkey neck, stomach etc....
July 18, 2015
Did you have all the fat removed or just a small part of it?
October 26, 2016
Hey. I did the same mistake of getting my fat pads removed 2months ago. The area is so hollow i look like a cadaver. Did you find a solution?
February 28, 2017
Hmm. That sucks. I hear Doctor sailer is very good though. I contacted him too, but I was a bit emotional when I wrote the email so I think I might have seemed like a crazy person. I was just exceptionally bitter at life when I wrote it. However- if he is two expensive I've heard of David David (Adelaide Austraila) and he seems very qualified in cosmetic surgery and medical surgery in general. I think he is less expensive than Sailer. He does cheek implants using bone grafts from either your hip or rib. I've also heard talk about Dr Raiffini and Dr Mommuerts. I'm not sure if either of them are spelt right but I figure if you google the name and the profession (maxillofacial surgery) that they will pop up. I hear Raiffini is very reasonable as far as prices go.
