So I am 53 years old woman trying to age...
So I am 53 years old woman trying to age gracefull, hard to believe and admit! I would describe myself as healthy 5'6 135 lbs, active and most people would call me thin with having the appearance of 16 week pregnancy belly. (not shown in picture unfortunately but quite real! No amount of exercise was affecting my body appearance and as I am aging the cortisol levels were just adding insult to injury. I did have 4 pregnancies and one c- section and most recently a laproscopic hysterectomy. As you can tell my abdomen had seen better days. I was a voyeur to many tummy tucks performed by this DR and decided that if I ever was going to have a tummy tuck now was the time and he would be the one. I am 9 days post op and to date I have had nothing but a positive experience to share. My procedure took 3.5 hours and I woke up in minimal discomfort. I left the hospital within 2 hours of recovery and followed the course of treatment for pain which was oxy and Valium for spasms, anti nausea meds and colace for GI concerns. I had no drains used and my scar at first appearance was razor thin! I did have substantial bruising on my back side which was an added bonus to alleviate the fat flanks on my back. At this point in time I have complied with all my instructions. I found a wonderful chair that reclines for easy access and by the 6th day I eliminated the oxy and am using tylenol as needed. So a couple of things I want to mention again is that I did not need any drains. The friends and family that have seen me can't believe how flat and tight my belly is. Of all the procedures I have had this has been by far the easiest recovery. I would say that the most important suggestion I could make is planning to have at least 8-10 days off from work and of course someone to help with laundry. Even without a tummy tuck help with laundry is always great! I have been eating lightly and wearing my binder. I am now standing straight and actually was able to within the first few days. I am not sure what else I could share at this point other than for anyone evaluating a DR you should due diligence. I knew my Physician would treat me with respect, pay attention to the details so my incision is placed in proportion to my body and the scar will not be an issue for me. He also has offered after care using laser technology to boost collagen and healing. I still have a way to go but I wanted to document my experience while it was fresh and real!
4 weeks post op
Healing well. Trying to not wear the binder as often but find the swelling is less if I do. Back to work completely. I am still taking motrin and valium if I get periodic cramping to help with inflammation and would recommend still taking it easy on household chores. Each da m bell gets a bit less tender. It is life changing to be bell free!
