I decided to share my story just to have a record...
I decided to share my story just to have a record about Sono Bello at Bellevue. Before the procedure, I did a lot of research on Sono Bello. But none prepared me for what I was about to experienced. I was referred by a friend. The patient care consultant is quota/money driven. She and another staff was fighting over the sales. They double charged my card in 2 locations and didn't notify me. They were unapologetic when I called them, and simply just told me that I'll get my refund in 24hrs. I should of cancelled the procedure after what happened but I was focused on getting a better figure. During my procedure, the surgeon and nurse were great. The pain was fairly moderate because it was a conscious sedation. 4 days post-op, I was hit with another misfortune. I had a fever, and my upper abdomen was hot, red, and excruciatingly painful. On top of that, F**k my life, my surgeon was out of town. But he was in contact with me over the phone. He reached out to the office and got me in ASAP with another dr. At the office, the on-call dr, aspirated pus out of my abdomen and confirmed it was an infection and sent me to the ER. At the hospital, the culture came back + for Staph and e.coli and I went through 2 drain and wash procedures, and 2 extensive dressing change procedures that required general anesthesia. My plastic surgeon was in touch with the hospital general surgeon from beginning to end of my hospitalization, which I was grateful for. But it's still a crappy situation. I was hospitalized for 5 days and was treated with IV antibiotics. I missed over a month of work and accrued $4500 out of pocket expense from the hospitalization. Good thing I have decent insurance. The aftermath from the infection left me with a disfigured abdomen. But despite my experience, I don't have anything terrible to say about my dr and nurses. However, I do question their sterilization technique. If I had a second chance to do it all over, I would opt out from surgery. According to Sono Bello, they have no other record of infection. Apparently I'm their "first and only".
