Please Please STAY AWAY FROM SMILEDIRECT CLUB
I usually do not write reviews when I’m unsatisfied with a product as I understand that sometimes some products/services may not work for you. However, the amount of distress that this company has given to me this past month changed my mind.
I decided to get smiledirect aligners to fix my bottom teeth only and I expressed this on my physical appointment. I opted to do monthly payments. However they sent me upper and bottom teeth aligners to my home. I was using just the bottom aligner for a few weeks but called as I was experiencing pain, discomfort and sore gums. They told me the aligners are not meant to be worn just on the bottom teeth. After I complained for the misinformation, they send me new ones only for the bottom teeth. I used them until aligner 9 for 20/22 h a day for 6 months because I usually had to extend the date to switch them as they were so uncomfortable and tight. Then I decided to call smiledirect and request for the payments to stop, offering to send them back the unopened aligners 10-15.
After having a virtual appointment with their dentist and explaining my concerns I still decided to go trough with the cancellation. By then I had already payed £ 956.06 . I NEVER asked for a refund. Just for the payments to stop. I spoke to smiledirect manager Joe ( and have all the exchanged emails to prove so) and he instructed me to do a virtual return of the unopened aligners where I would cut them half and send photos. I did so and got Joe’s confirmation email accepting the return and stating that they would be able to reduce the treatment cost from £ 1639 to £ 983.4. Additionally he said once they have processed the aligners for cancellation and notified Tabeo they will advise me of this information. Because I had already payed £ 956.06 I was only expecting Tabeo to charge me 27.34£. Recently Tabeo attempted to charge me for the full monthly payment. When I enquired they said that never received cancellation from smiledirect. I have now called smiledirect direct multiple times to try to sort this out and every time a new manager contacts me from smiledirect with this standard message that I cannot get a refund and I should send them the unopened aligners or I would have to pay full amount. I have informed multiple times that I cannot do so as I was instructed to destroy the unopened aligners so is absolutely outrageous that they want me to still pay for the service. I have dealt with a lot of distress with this whole ordeal for the last few weeks now so please stay away from this company!!!!
