Endoscopic Brow Lift / Bichtomy

Menopause and and working outside may have been the reason or genetics. I woke up one day and decided I wanted to have plastic surgery to correct my Jowels, creeping sagging skin around my eyes. It was beyond Botox. I decided to look into having the work done out of the country. Number one I lived outside of the country and knew that the cost is considerably lower and the doctors are more than qualified. I get all of my dental work in Los Algondnes with excellent results and 100% satisfaction. I saw a card with Dr Maurice Aceves information on it so I contacted his office and made an appointment. I arrived in Mexicali and I was greeted by Jacqueline who drove me to my appointment where I talked to Dr Aceves. I wanted a softer look. He recommended a couple of procedures and I decided to have a lower facelift SMAS and upper blepharoplasty. I was very satisfied with my results and healing time. I knew clearly I would need to return to have lower blepharoplasty and perhaps a micro brow lift. I wanted to devide the procedures so the healing time would be less and I could be out and about. I live in the North West so traveling to Arizona is a vacation too. I’m going to be having a second surgery in two weeks. I’ll be discussing a brow lift to lift the corners of my eye and a bichtomy which is used to remove fat below your cheeks from the inside of your mouth to slim your facial features. I have spoken with some of Dr Aceves other patients who equally are satisfied with their results and highly recommend Dr Aceves. I also have an acquaintance who works in a southern CA plastic surgery center and knows of Dr Aceves who is highly respected in the plastic surgeons community.

How are you doing with your new eyes and brow lift? Are you happy with the results? I’m having the same procedure next month here in Chicago. I’m psyched up. Congrats

Hi Ransrvr, I I’m going on Monday morning. I’m supper excited and kicking myself for not having it done while I was there for the SMAS lift and upper eyes. We are snowbirds in Arizona so I want my healing time to be minimal because my husband is always making plans to bike or hike. I’ll post pictures on Tuesday. I stay over in Mexicali one night. I look forward to your results too. I notice every time I watch a movie I’m trying to see if the actor had a brow lift, bichtomy, or fillers. Thanks for asking and I’ll comment soon.

Hey Grandma Shell, My name is Randi, and I have two grand-studs. Lol. My name is Granny Ranny to them. Lol You can’t control the duration of the healing process, but you don’t want to compromise it with hiking or biking. (Which I love, too)! You look very youthful already and I can’t wait to see what this surgery brings to your already pretty face! Ha ha, I do the exact same thing when I watch tv!!! I put the soap operas on, bc ya know those ladies are all “did up”!!! Wishing you healing vibes and virtual hugs.

Hi Randi, I’m back from Mexicali and recovering nicely. I’m happy about the brow lift. I’m experiencing some bruising but no pain. Pineapple smoothies are tasting good and I hope working. You are real close to your date for your brow lift too. I’ll be checking your progress. I know you’ll be thrilled. I can’t wait to go out with out a compression garment and no bruises. I can see my results through it all. Dr Aceves recommended lipo along my jawline rather than bichyomy. Bichtomy wasn’t what I was thinking it was. I’ll be going back for some fillers at a later date.

I was just reading your review. It sounds like a seamless surgery! How long do you wear your compression garment for? Are you bruised under your eyes? I never heard of lipo along the jawline. I had lipo under my chin! It helped with my turkey neck. Post some photos when you’re up to it. Thx for sharing your journey. Love and hugs

I’m not sure if I ever answered you. I wore the compression garment for a couple of weeks and then only at night for a few more weeks. Yes the lipo along the jaw line was really helpful.

Hi Grandma! Yep, that jawline of yours can make you look 15 years younger. Amazing!!!!

Can you share cost. Please. Ty

Can you share cost of lower face lift please. Ty. You look great. I’m thinking of going to same dr.

Dr Aceves is a excellent Plastic Surgeon. For a lower facelift I paid $4,500, I believe. I also had a upper eye bleh. He will correspond with you if you call, email or send him a message through messenger. My friend just went to him four weeks ago with pleasing results for a lower facelift and a laser resurfacing.

I would love to have a lower facelift and laser resurfacing! $4,500 is a. VERY good price! I know you stay in ur RV but is there reasonably priced lodging and how long do you think you would havecto stay getting a lower facelift? You look great bybthe way!!

I’m not sure if my reply showed up. My lower SMAS lift was $4500 and it was my friend who had the laser resurfacing. I’m going to have it done depending what month I go back. You can’t be in the sun. I stayed over night at a really nice Hotel with excellent room service. The food was really good with healthy choices like smoothies and soup. If only getting the lower lift I would stay two or three nights and then fly home. They may offer rooms for less if you stay more than one night. I’ll ask my friend about how long before travel is comfortable after laser resurfacing.

I stayed at a very nice hotel for one night and the cost was $50. The room service was fantastic with really good food. They may even give a deeper discount for a few nights. If I were to do it over again and didn’t have my RV I would stay two nights and fly home. The lower facelift was easy to recover from.

Hi. Thank you for answering my questions. So helpful to be able to ask someone who’s had this done. This might be a dumb question but were you put to sleep during lower facelift or is it local anesthesia

Also I live in Portland Oregon. Do you know where I would fly into. Then would I need to rent a car at some point. Ty so much.

I was put to sleep by Anesthesiolgist. They’ll have you do blood work, chest x-Ray, and a ekg prior for an additional cost or you can have this done by your regular doctor and covered by insurance prior to your appointment. The extra cost was under $200 so it was easy just to have this done in Mexicali. I had blood work prior by my regular doctor and a health check. When I went in to talk to Dr Aceves I couldn’t pull up my blood work from Quest Labs. So I just had it retaken. That cost was $30.

I drove to the border town Calexico and walked across the border. The closest cities are
Major cities near Calexico, CA. 3 miles to Mexicali, Mexico. 85 miles to Ensenada, Mexico. 89 miles to Tijuana, Mexico. 92 miles to Chula Vista, CA. 96 miles to San Diego, CA. 141 miles to Riverside, CA. 144 miles to San Bernardino, CA. 156 miles to Santa Ana, CA.

Walking across the border and parking in Calexico was easy. There was a paid parking just off of the main road. I googled the parking lot and found it easily. It would be a pain to fly and rent a car but maybe fly into Mexicali or TJ and hav one the lady who assists the Americans and Canadians pick you up. They have a new employee who assists. She charged $60 to drive you back to the American side “ Calexico “ when my friend was there last month. When I was there I tipped Jaky ( who no longer works there) $100 because she was so helpful. She picks you up after you cross the border and takes you to your appointments, to the hotel if you choose to stay over night, and then will drive you back to the border to walk across of will drive you back over. The first time I did not tip because I thought I would see her the next day and I did not. So Dr Aceves has an employee to help you and she is available to answer logistics about flying in, walking across the border, lodgings.

To walk across the border and take a taxi to Dr Aceves office was $3 each direction. The office is just down the street from the border crossing about 1 1/2 miles. I just gave the taxi driver the address and away we went.

I’ll be returning in the early spring to have my lower bleh and if our paths cross I’ll be glad to help you get to you’re appointment. I live in Central Oregon. We travel to Arizona for a couple of months during early spring.

I was picked up at the border by Jacqueline who handles the Americans and Canadians. I went in for blood work first thing. I wasn’t certain if I woukd benefit from Bichtomy so I was eager to sit down with Dr Aceves. The fat that was accumulating between my cheeks and jawline was just fat. A loss of elactisity ( age) gravity. The bichtomy would not correct my issue. It’s hard to tell by reading reviews so talking with the doctor was ideal. Dr Aceves is very straight forward and explains with great detail. He suggested Liposuction, the upper brow lift and fillers. I was given two adivans and felt like I could use a little more so I was given a Valium. I had no cares after that. The procedure was a little over an hour with no pain. A dressing around my head with pressure on my forehead was applied by Dr Aceves kind nurse. I was driven by Jacqueline to The Hotel Real. I went inside and the sedatives were still in effect so I had no embarrassment being seen with a wrapping around my head. I looked like a mummy. I took a nap and then ordered room service. The choices were endless and the food was delicious. I ordered soup and salad. Thinly sliced celery, carrots, green apples. There were so many pillows that I was able to sleep upright. The hotel staff were very accommodating and I felt pampered. The cost was $50 with a special rate for medical patients. Room service is 24 hours. The hotel pool looked inviting. Maybe next time I’ll cone back in warmer weather. I like the fact that you can go into Mexicali have your surgery spend one night and cross back into the states and the choice to go back to have your stitches removed in two weeks or return home to have your regular doctor remove them. Staying at a all inclusive care isn’t my cup of tea. Now I’m resting in my RV and going to travel up the CA coast line while I heal. Fresh air appeals rather than staying at a recovery resort and I can use the money for traveling.

What doctor did your dental work?

Hi Rochelle, my apologies I was locked out of my account for a few days because my iPhone wouldn’t recognize my finger print. I see Dr Martinez in The Ramos dental clinic. I actually have seen them all there and I like them all except Dr Ramos. It just a matter of personality though. My husband and I have been going to have dental work for four years now. I just had a cleaning the last time.
dr ramoa los algondones the link will not copy when I use my iPhone.

Thank youvfor responding, GrandmaShell! Does the clinic offer dental implants?

Yes I had an implant three years ago. A specialist comes into their office and sees you. The specialist I saw was Hector.

I have two photos of the same corners of my eyes. A nice difference. There is bruising but it is getting better daily. I’m camped along side of a lake enjoying walking and I went for a bike ride today. I’m taking all of my vitamins and supplements and drinking smoothies with blueberries, pineapple and greens.

You are quite the trailblazer doing all of your favorite outdoorsy hobbies after a cosmetic procedure. Nothing stops you, it is to be admired! Your brow lift look really good. I’m seeing a difference in your eye lids too! Very youthful looking. Is your bruising around your eyes going down your cheeks?
User Avatar

Thank you. I’m actually taking it very easy compared to my norm. My black eyes came from my compression garment being too high above the eye brows. I moved it the first night not realizing the outcome. I was pretty high on sedatives. The swelling is gone but the blue color remains. It has improved greatly today. I had Lipo above my jawline to reduce the jowls that I thought a bichtomy would but it’s outter fat that is settling rather than inner fat below the cheeks. I have some swelling still. I see a slight improvement but time will tell. The jowls were addressed last year when I had a SMAS but a small amount accumulated and it needed to go. I feel like the results were subtle as I wanted and not drastic. I think anymore people wouldn’t know who I was.

I had a facelift and browlift done at Mt.Sinai at the end of July 2017. My neck and jowls were not improved so I am looking for additional work in those areas. I am from Pennsylvania and wonder if the cost of a plane ticket and lodging would end up being just as much as getting additional surgery locally? What do you think? You probably live closer to Mexico than I do if you are from the west.

I remember talking to you when I was considering traveling back east to Sanai. The good news is you can converse with Dr Aceves via email with photos and have a plan in place upon your arrival. The hotel Real Inn was a special price of $50 a night with room service. They were very accommodating. If you brought your current blood work, chest X-ray that would cut some time and cost. I’m having my stitches removed from my regular doctor. She is a veteran who worked in the plastic surgery department at Landstuhl military hospital. So she knows her way around stitches.

So happy that your healing is on point and the swelling is subsiding...somewhat!! You had a facelift last year, and still needed a fat removal from your cheeks? Are you posting pix of that too? Is the lipo area very bruised?
User Avatar
January 14, 2019
Yes I had the SMAS but the jowls were addressed but appeared over the summer. It is a like fat drifted down from my cheeks. I wasn’t pulled back tight and that is what I asked for. I probably went about this wrong but I didn’t want to be recouperating from everything at once. Meaning upper and lower bleh done at the same time but separate times so that I could not have a lot of swelling and bruising. The brow lift did cause swelling and bruising though. I still need the lower eye bleh and I should have had it at the same time. Eventually I’ll need a neck lift too. The SMAS did address some of my neck which I’m happy with.
