Perfect Result for the Sliding Genioplasty
I got a chin implant in early 2016 and buccal fat removal. I had a weak chin and kind of chubby cheeks despite being skinny overall. I got a stronger chin and somewhat thinner cheeks but overall my chin looked very box-like and I wasn't that happy- it did not look very natural.
I would constantly look at peoples faces and question why the chin implant didn't help that much and why I liked their chin better. I noticed that people's faces were more angular and did some research and learned about V line surgery. That was a bit of what I wanted but was more for women it seemed. I found Doctor Eppley in this process and sent him some photos of me. He said I had a vertically short chin and that a sliding genioplasty was a solution. He did imaging on the photos but it was not the best.
I did a consult with him and he talked about keeping the chin implant in and doing a pretty complicated surgery combining that and a sliding genioplasty. He spoke well but I was really troubled by his reviews. He had many negative reviews and many said that he could speak well but not perform. Searching around some more, I saw people mention Jamali as an alternative.
I looked and saw he had really strong reviews and I also saw he had an instagram. His instagram has some really good posts showing examples of before/after's he has done and you could really see a transformation. It not only made the chin more defined and angled, but also made the jaw stronger and thinned the cheeks/under the neck. It completely enhanced the whole profile.
I met with him and he really understood exactly what I wanted and seemed quite specialized in this procedure (sliding genioplasty), which I liked a lot. I waited a few months and thought it over but felt he was the best for this as I continued to see new positive reviews.
I got it done in May 2021 and the procedure went very smoothly and the recovery was exactly what he said- pretty easy and painless. The results started to show fairly immediately but only got better over time. Now about 8 months out I can say months 4-8 I saw continuous improvements, which Jamali said there would be. It really balanced my face well and overall enhanced my profile overall. I was thinking about getting fat taken out from under my neck and this totally did that too. It also thinned my face and gave me a strong jaw and I love it.
Very life changing for me and I honestly could not have asked for a better overall result. I am so glad we found Jamali and I feel so much more confident and happy everyday as a result.

How much did this cost you?

I had to have lipo to the submental area to address the increased fullness caused by the setback, but since there wasn't enough fat there to take, the lipo caused other issues - and on top of that, I still have fullness that looks like fat, but is actually skin and bone.
It is super frustrating to pay money for something, take time off work and end up worse than you looked originally, and then have the damage to underlying anatomical structures (so it's hard to get a revision).
99% of my aesthetic issues were caused by Dr Jamali not following his own surgical plan and not adhering to "measure twice cut once" (google kplatt2010 archwired jamali for another girl who says his execution is lacking, along with the girl whose jaw he misaligned on realself). But my review wasn't just about the aesthetic issues - it was about Dr Jamali lying to my face several times about the amount of movement that occurred, trying to pretend like I looked good after the surgery (which he also did to the girl whose jaw got misaligned), and then once I posted my honest review uploading legally-protected photos and talking about my case without my consent.
I'm sorry you're having trouble finding a good surgeon, but I wish someone had posted something like this about Dr Jamali before I went with him (in fact, I should've paid more attention to the botched jaw surgery case, but I wanted to believe him so I discounted it). However, I don't think it's fair to say I'm "not helping the others" by talking about my honest experience with him, which was not just the badly-executed surgery, but also how he's treated me since (the lying, the deliberately making me scared of him, the posting my photos without consent). If people think my photos look good or that the surgery was an improvement, they can use that as further support for their decision to book with him. But I don't think making people's decision harder by giving them more complete information is being 'unhelpful'. I get that it sucks to think you found the right person and then find out something like this, but after what I've been through, I now see that it is better to force yourself to take into account the scary negatives, vs ignoring them because you want to believe someone can help you.
I looked at the pictures you posted in questions to doctors. You're a really beautiful girl and I really think you should avoid doing anything to your chin. It's much better to have a slightly strong chin, which lots of models and actresses have, than to have a double chin, which is a likely outcome of a reduction. It's really really hard to revise sliding genioplasties, and a large chunk of the cases of chin reduction that I see on Realself end up with bad aesthetic outcomes (drooping of the chin pad, submental fullness from skin or bone, perceived extra width, mentalis dysfunction). Plastic and maxillofacial surgeons aren't wizards, and they have to work within your existing anatomic framework - and it's just a fact that it's harder to get a good outcome in your soft tissues when you reduce the size of the chin since the soft tissues don't contract well. Spend some time researching reduction genioplasties - the consensus I've seen from online discussion by doctors is that it is much, much harder to achieve a good aesthetic outcome than it is for an advancement. And I'm experiencing that firsthand, despite the fact that my surgery with Dr Jamali wasn't even supposed to be a reduction genioplasty in the first place, just a lengthening one.
Maybe you think my view is just exaggerated. But everything I've described about my interactions with Dr Jamali is 100% true and verifiable (the deviation from surgical plan which you can see when comparing my after x rays to the plan, the difficulty getting my medical records or getting a revision plan, the incorrect measurements he told me which you can see on my before/after x rays). Again, I understand the temptation to discount my commentary and believe Dr Jamali, as he's very convincing and a good salesman. But I can tell you I was burned by doing that.
