I'm up then down.....

I've been back to work and getting back into the swing of things. I was moving slowly, but getting around. The worse part was walking upright! FINALLY, at 4 weeks post op I was standing up!! I was ecstatic! Not only that, but my tummy was looking awesome!!! Then, week 5 a bit of swelling, and now week 6 - full on!! I'm scared that I pulled something! Calling my PS tomorrow. I'm driving myself crazy. I'm having nerve twinges but think (or hope) they are just waking up. Jeez, I want to see my small tummy again!!

Scar care

My Dr took off my tape at 15 days PO. He said to keep it moisturized & when all scabs fall off, I can use scar cream. I use coconut oil now. It's all natural & keeps my skin soft. I have bio-oil, but didn't want anything artificial on my wound as it healed. We juice daily & I use coconut oil to cook. I read one day how soft it makes your skin & since I normally use baby oil after showering, switched. My skin is like silk - so I knew I would love the resultson my scar. I put it on 3 times daily and notice how the scab is falling off when I shower. It doesn't burn, so I will continue. I had a glass of wine on day 17. Toasted my adventure! I've noticed swelling on and off, but due to the helpful posts from others, knew to expect this. Tomorrow is my first full day off work.... Let's see how it goes!

WEEKS 2 & 3 - getting back to life

I went to work at day 14, 2 weeks after surgery. I felt ok- just sore & CAN't WALK UPRIGHT!! UGH!! That's the worse! My Dr said I look good & walking upright would come - but it's driving me CRAZY!! My drain was still draining 50-75cc at day 7, so they didn't take it out. SICK OF IT - but glad I only have one. At day 15 I was down to 25cc so the drain is out!!! Glad I can pull undies up now! Lol! Speaking of- none of mine were comfortable enough & Granny panties still were cut wrong. So what am I wearing??? My husband's boxers!!! OMG - they are the right cut - and SO comfy!!! He wears boxer briefs and they are GREAT!! My first day back - I work in an office - was hard. I brought pillows, my secretary was there to assist in EVERYTHING, I walked often, but it was still too much. I was ready to go by midday & who calls? My Prince of a husband! He was coming my way because he didn't want me to overdo it. I decided then to work a half day for the rest of the week. I also stopped the Percocet - it had me itching like crazy!! I took Benadryl with it - but the ombination kept me groggy, so I needed something where I could function. I take Ibuprofen for pain when needed during day ( with Dr's ok) & ibuprofen PM to help sleep at night. I'm walking a bit faster & standing straighter & loving my tummy!

Top-notch doctor and top-notch staff! The staff made me feel EXTREMELY comfortable and were extremely accommodating. I went for 3 meetings before finally deciding on my Dr., but they were just as nice on each visit. Tiffany, the Dr.'s nurse is FANTASTIC. She saw how nervous I was and talked me through EVERYTHING. I called often and Tiffany was ALWAYS available - even giving me her cell phone number so I could call at any time.
