According to my dr., she did a very aggressive treatment at 40%. I would never do HALO again. It created new PIH and It didn't do anything for redness. The tried to calm my face with a BBL last week but I am still super upset.

I had Halo in late June. I had the same reactions as you have described. I also bought a package of 2 and cannot bring myself to schedule the second treatment. It has been 5 months and I cannot see any improvement to my skin. I see more hyper pigmentation and orange peel looking skin. My skin looks worse now. I will never do this again.

Does this work on black/Latino skin?

No idea. Not a fan. Still have a line around my lips.

Omg your experience sounds just like mine. I thought I had a fairly high pain tolerance, but after my treatment I was questioning if that was something I had just made up in my mind. You feel like a burn victim, the cool air blowing on it barely gives any relief but without it, it's pure agony. Walking to my car to drive home I was shaking from the pain and my eyes teared up and I felt close to crying. It was at least a couple of hours before the pain went down enough to where I felt like I could breathe a little. I am also supposed to have another treatment and am dreading doing this again. As you said- hopefully the results make the idea of facing the pain again worth it! Were your results worth it for you? Please let me know!

I am 44 years old and I struggle with redness, melasma including post inflammatory hyper pigmentation. I have tried Fraxel, Pearl, Medlight, and QMax. I feel that no treatment and/or product had significantly restored my skin to the even tone I desire. I went to a Medi-spa on Tuesday with redness and melasma concerns. I booked Halo. It sounded great because of "no downtime". I was "numbed" and then lasered. I have a crazy high pain threshold and the Halo was beyond anything I have experienced in terms of pain. The rollerball hand piece glided easily across my face till it reached 40% but the pain of the heat was beyond anything. After the procedure, I sat for 1/2 hour with the cool air blower. It barely lessened the pain of the heat. I can only assume this is what a 3rd degree burn feels like. My drive home was was the longest ever. I was told the pain would last one hour but it wasn't until 3.5 hours later that the pain stopped. I figured all was good until I woke up and my face was very swollen, red and scaly. I guess since all the buzz on Halo says you have no downtime, I was totally freaked out. 15 hours later and I have no pain but still look like Cat Mom. I called the office and they told me to take 5 mg of prednisone for 4 days without tapering off. I bought a 2 package of Halo and cannot imagine going through this again. I hope my skin will look amazing and all pain will be forgotten.

Welcome to the community, I am really glad that you joined us and decided to document your Halo experience here on RealSelf. Sounds painful, I thought you may find this helpful: Swollen After the new Halo Laser Treatment

Do you have a before photo that you can share with us as well? Keep us posted on your progress.

Hello,
Thanks for your comments. I'm considering getting the Halo for my practice.
How's your skin looking now?
I would appreciate an update :)

I had halo on my face and chest. I was warm and no problems at all.
I was like a sunburn. My skin is olive color and I wanted on my chest to remove brown spots so about a week later I started buying obagi and going through the 5 steps that's when after one month most the spots are gone. I think Obagi is great. I just wanted to get
a deep tx. on my face, I have no problems on the face. I quess it was
OK but I could have saved the money and just used Obagi. It is great stuff. The PS is one of the best. Dr. Reddy and I did look pink for about one month, but I didn't even hurt. I have a low pain tolerance,
but this time I was alright. I think each person is so different than the next. In my opinion the other lasers sound a lot stronger when I see the broken skin than the halo. I hope all of you get great results
I really can't say if it did much for me. But I wouldn't do it again and the surgeon advice was I needed two time for my declophage. One was enough to see little to no help. Best of luck to all of you.

My doctor recommended Halo laser for my melasma. I had other laser before and it made it worst so I'm quite skeptical about the result. Please keep us posted if you are happy with it. Thanks!
