After a lifetime of feeling inadequate and embarrassed about my flat, slightly concave chest, I decided that it was time to see if cosmetic surgery could provide me with a solution that years of weight lifting had not. I had heard about pectoral implant surgery, but knew nothing about it. Research via the internet provided me with some answers and just as many questions. I contacted a number of surgeons and arranged consultations with some of them.

I live in Auckland and soon discovered that experience with pectoral implant surgery appears to be very rare in New Zealand. I felt it was important to choose a surgeon with experience in the procedure. I chose Australia because there is a body of experience there and it was close enough to get to easily if there were post operative complications and importantly because surgery in Australia is well regulated. My initial contacts were made by phone and email. From the outset Amira and her team stood out. Initially I felt very self conscious and awkward talking about wanting to change my appearance. Amira and her colleagues were able to put me at ease and we were able to start to discuss what the issues were and the possible solutions. The level of professionalism and personal care and attention I received from this team of dedicated women to is hard to put into words.

Amira is very experienced, highly skilled and clearly committed to doing her very best. We discussed the merits of different procedures and what was involved surgically. Amira's meticulous attention to detail and her ability to communicate complex information clearly meant that I was able to make informed decisions. Amira never promised anything she could not deliver. Her empathy and honesty, together with the fact that I felt my case was the absolute focus of attention , convinced me to choose Amira. I decided to go ahead with the implant surgery and some abdominal liposuction. It seemed like an opportunity too good to miss! It also meant that some fat could be harvested to help fill the pes excavatum, or the hollow space between the implants, which was the cause of the problem. Doing this helped give me a balanced, natural appearance.

The surgery went without problems and after a couple of nights in hospital I went home to recover. The post operative care and support I've received has been great. I could not have been better looked after. I'm very happy with the results. My chest is how I always hoped it would be and looks and feels very natural. I feel really happy that I not only got what I hoped for, but that the experience has been so good. Undergoing this procedure has been a big deal and the ongoing help and support of this great team has made a huge difference. I could not have been in better hands. This was my first experience with cosmetic surgery and what I've discovered is that the priority is my health and well being. Of course getting a good cosmetic result is important and I certainly got that. Being in expert hands medically as well is even more important. I can't thank Amira and her team enough.
