Two Jaw Update and Before After Pics
WORTH IT
Hello everyone! I'm back for my update. It's almost 2 months since my surgery and I am so happy with my results. Everyday it gets better. I have my braces on and now i just have to get used to my braces again. I can definitely see improvement in my face not as swollen as i used to and sensations are back. I can also eat more and i continue to perform exercises for jaw mobility. I still can't believe that I had two jaw surgery and my results are just unbelievable. It's amazing how it changed my life. It boosted my confidence and i feel so proud of myself for doing it. My friends and family were so amazed with my transformation and they can't beleive how the surgery really improved my profile, bite, smile and overall look. I am going to post a month to 2 month post-op photo you can compare it to my previous post.

Hello, the results are amazing! Did you have any side effects? Like loss of sensitivity or sensation?
Hello heeji,
So during the first two weeks i felt numb around my cheeks, nose, chin area. Now all sensations are back to normal. I still feel tingly sensation on top of my top lip but overall sensations are back. I believe it's normal to feel this way after two jaw surgery and expect the sensations to come back overitme. Also, you wont be able to open you mouth wide for me i can put two fingers the most. :) Hope this answers your question and hope it helps

Shocking Result of my TWO JAW SURGERY, ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY, VLINE
First of all, I wanted to say that the only regret I have in doing this surgery at ID Hospital is NOT doing it SOONER! I am so happy with my results and overall experience. When I started doing my research about two jaw surgery I came across youtube videos of "Let me in" and the results and hope they gave those people are amazing! This was about 10 years ago and ever since then I told myself one day I will have my surgery at ID. Here I am now, almost a month after the surgery and I couldn't be more happier and satisfied with my face and smile. It is the best decision I have made for myself.
Consultation:
The Hospital is huge but they have a well-organized system. Everyone was professional and welcoming. I had a translator with me the whole time and the same translator were helping me throughout my journey which was nice.
I met my doctor, Dr. Lee Seok Jae a board-certified maxillofacial surgeon, I was really nervous because I was expecting the doctors there to be too serious. However, I kept a smile on my face and asked my questions politely. Dr. Lee was very nice, very professional and he is the type of doctor that knows exactly what he is talking about, he makes sense. What I also liked about him is that he was very honest and straight to the point. At first, I was wanting more surgery but he recommended not to do all of those surgeries at once for my safety. He gained my trust during my consultation because all of my concerns and questions were answered and he explained what type of procedure and how he is going to approach my case. Because my bones were thinner instead of SSRO he did IVRO and my teeth had to be tied for two weeks. I told him how I wanted my jaw to look like for Vline and told him I want it to look natural and not too pointy. I recommend bringing a picture of your ideal shape. I brought a couple of pictures that I showed him and I made sure that the pictures I showed are realistic and attainable.
Presurgery:
I had all the testings done (Xray and CT Scan, Cardiography, and Blood work). My before pictures were taken. Then I went to ID's Dental Floor to take impressions of my teeth for the wafer (kind of like retainer that they will use during the surgery to correct my bite, I would wear it as well until I get my braces).
Surgery day:
I had to go an hour early for my surgery because I am meeting my doctor again to go over the surgery plan and just to see how I was doing. I was nervous but very confident and excited maybe because I trust my doctor so much that I know everything will turn out the way I expected. He informed me of what to expect after surgery. He told me beforehand that my first night will be tough but after that, it should get better. Surgery started at 10 am and I was awake at 1:30-2:00, I was transferred to the ward and stayed in the hospital for two nights.
Post-Op:
I was transferred to the ward and the nurses were so prompt and efficient in changing my ice pack and whenever I hit the call light button they were there right away. The doctor came to visit me just to check how I was doing and he again explained what to expect especially the first night. He wasn't kidding. The first night was tough. I can't drink any liquid because I still have a drainage tube in my mouth. I also have an airway tube in my nose. It was hard to breathe because of the bleedy nose and secretions in my mouth. the nurses were there to clean and change the gauze in my nose and mouth and kept me clean. They also suctioned the secretions to help me with my breathing. I was scared because I have no one with me but when I called the nurse and held her hand I told her to please stay with me for a moment because I was scared and she did. I asked her to not close my door and for some reason, I was really hot and I asked the nurses to change the temperature so many times (I felt like I was very needy but they were nice). To my surprise, they brought a fan inside my room which I really appreciate, because it shows how much they care and they just wanted me to be comfortable. My advice would be to focus on your BREATHING. You will learn to adjust on how you breathe. The next day they removed the tube in my nose and the doctor removed the drainage tube in my mouth. After that everything felt so much better. They continued to monitor me until I can walk on my own. I was good at changing my ice pack and walking around the ward. I also washed my mouth every hour or two.
To my surprise: they brought a deswelling treatment light and mask and I got treatment twice during my stay in my room. (i didn't expect that which was nice).
Discharge day:
The doctor came in to check me before discharge and then the nurse explained where to get my prescriptions. They also gave me a care packet with skincare and mask that will help for deswelling. they gave me my compression band and extra ice pack to take home. The nurse was so cute she said I did so well and as she said goodbye to me she hugged me and walked me to the elevator.
What food to take during recovery:
Since my teeth were shut, I can only drink liquids. I can't even drink really thick liquid or porridge. So what I had was the nutritious drink that I can buy at their lobby, pumpkin juice, fruit yogurt drinks, banana milk, and soymilk. I also bought protein shake with me, I have the one that is not chalky because you don't want anything to get stuck in your incisions. So, be careful and choose wisely. It is so important that you nourish your body for proper recovery. Drink water for hydration. Don't forget to clean your mouth with your saline water and chlorhexidine every time you eat and drink.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Taking medications was another struggle for me. I say that because it doesn't taste good! but I have to drink it. I set an alarm for all my medications so I can take it on time. I mix it with water and I have juice with me to wash the taste off. So just giving you guys a heads up taking medications will be challenging but it's so important.
Using Icepack for 4 days and then Warm pack after will help a lot with the swelling. BE CONSISTENT with this. I made sure that I change my ice packs consistently to prevent swelling then my 5th day I was doing warm packs to help minimize the swelling. 5th day and 6th day was peak swelling for me.
Honestly, I did not feel any pain since surgery day BUT the day they removed the stitches and the first time I had to replace my own elastic band stings!!! this part is not my favorite. Now I'm a pro at replacing my elastic band hehe
For two more weeks, I have scheduled appointments to meet with my doctor and to have my deswelling treatments done. I always look forward to seeing my doctor and my deswelling treatments. Treatments really helped me recover and deswell faster. Overall, my experience at ID Hospital and everyone that helped me were outstanding. I think they went over and beyond what I expected. It was a truly memorable experience for me and I will forever remember my life-changing experience with them.
