Hello!
9 years ago I lost around 70-80 pounds. To help me to lose that weight I became more active and I was part of the competitive swimming team of my town. I was also eating much more better. I trained hard for few years and I really liked it! But I had a problem that affected my self confidence for years : loose skin on my tummy and gynecomastia. To me it never been an option to take off my shirt in front off other people, cause I looked so different from other guys and it was so embarrassing.
I had a consultation with a plastic surgeon five years ago but I wasn't ready to make the procedure and I guess the timing wasn't good.
So this summer, I decided that this problem had bothered me enough.
I saw the same surgeon that I saw 5 years ago.
He told me that I would need a full tummy tuck procedure to correct the amount of loose skin and also a gynecomastia surgery (gland excision and liposuccion) to correct the puffiness of my chest.
Surgery was not very painful (not as much as I anticipated). I had a muscle tightening and it was not that bad. It is now 10 days post-op and I plan to go back to work on day 12 (I'm a master student in physiology so I word in a research lab- not a physical job). I stopped taking pain meds (Dilaudid) after 5 days. I feel good and I have no pain at all. I can almost walk perfectly straight. I'm in a good physical shape so maybe it helped me to recover faster!
This surgery was not as bad as I thought it would be!
I'm very happy with the result that I got! My chest contour is so much better! My tummy is still very swollen and I think my «love handle» area is also swollen but I can't say if it's because it's swollen that they are more noticeable. I wouldn't think that this procedure would have make them more prominent. My surgeon looked at my love handles when I had my consultation (I noticed he did) and he didn't tell me I needed any liposuccion. I chose a very good surgeon with a very good reputation here in Quebec.
So my principal question is : Does the swelling on my love handle area will go down or it is fat? I can't afford a liposuccion for now because it already cost me a lot. After the recovery period (8 weeks), I plan to workout more than before surgery (gym and come back in swim trainings) to get more muscles and lose some body fat. Hopefully I will lose some fat (back fat and love handle fat).
Do you think it is possible to lose back fat and love handle fat with a good diet and exercise (swimming and gym)? What do you think of the result? How can I expect the result to be improved as the swelling goes down ?
Thank you! I hope this helps for guys that want to get rid of this problem !
Good look and thank's in advance for the answers!
P.S. : I posted pics of before and after surgery. The picture of my back is after the surgery!

Thank you for joining us and sharing your journey. You did fantastic with the weigh loss the first round so I bet with diet and exercise you could help some of that back fat. I would give it a good shot before doing anything else.
You look really good after this surgery and seem to be healing very nicely, and quickly. But don't push it too quickly. Your body will be healing for weeks.
