Severe Pixie Ears After Facelift
Dr. Bovenzi did my facelift, chin implant and fat transfer in summer 2024 and this is my review at 6 mos postop. My facelift and necklift outcome in the center of my face is truly great; I got a neck that looks exactly like my best case scenario wish Photoshop and I was not overtightened and I look pretty close to my early 30s self again. I was on the very young end of facelift patients with attached earlobes preop and therefore at higher intrinsic risk of pixie ear, and now 6 mos later I have ears I cannot show in public without giving away my facelift and looking grotesque and inviting judgement. I have so much pull on the earlobes they are probably permanently stretched out to some degree and I have to wait until the one year mark to do a revision. I am not doing the revision with Dr. Bovenzi because my chin implant did not turn out perfectly symmetrical either which he brushed aside as still a good outcome, but I don't know who would be happy with spending that kind of money on something that's noticeably a few mm different on either side of the chin. He pronounced the chin implant good enough on remote virtual exam without palpating and didn't trust me when I said it feels off when I palpate myself. I don't know if the pixie ear outcome would have been inevitable with another surgeon, but in hindsight I wish I chose someone else even though my case might be salvageable and was not all bad. I am just very disappointed that all the post op consults were centered around minimizing problems.
