Septorhinoplasty 3 months post-op - surgery went smoothly

Wonderful Experience (But Avoid Fillers in Your Nose if Possible!)
WORTH IT
I want to begin by thanking Mr East and his team for supporting me throughout my septo rhinoplasty journey thus far. I have wanted to “fix” my nose since childhood and I finally plucked up the courage to do it in my 30s. Unfortunately, when I began researching rhinoplasties in my late 20s, I found several plastic surgeons who recommended getting a liquid rhinoplasty (with filler) before any surgery to see what changes might look like. I had filler injected into my nose 3 times over 4 years. The results were not terrible but the results didn’t look natural and I experienced some migration, which gave off a swollen appearance after a few years. Not only this, but during each injection session, I bruised and was terrified of an ocular occlusion. When I finally decided filler wasn’t worth the risk and it wouldn't give me the nose I desired, I started my journey with Mr East and his team.
Before surgery, I needed to get my filler dissolved and Mr East let me know that even with dissolving the filler I would still have traces of it left- which would make the healing process post-op longer. This meant that I would have more swelling in the tissues around my nose than those who had never had filler in that area. I took all this on board and proceeded with the surgery. Everything regarding the surgery went smoothly but even with the cast on I could see my undereye area was very swollen. After removing the cast, my nose and under eyes continued to swell and by days 8 and 9 I looked like the Elephant Man! My nose was HUGE! The skin under my eyes, cheeks and nose was so swollen. It felt tight, warm and spongy. I looked nothing like myself. At this point, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror nor did I want to leave the house. I remembered that Mr East said I would experience more swelling than usual due to the remnants of the fillers, though I was still shocked by what I was seeing. Recently, at my 3-month control, Mr East said that I still have some swelling in the lower 3/4 of my nose and time will be my friend. It has been a marathon both physically and psychologically. I’ve been seeing improvements with my nose month after month. I’m so looking forward to seeing the tip of my nose take shape in the following months! The moral of this story is getting filler before rhinoplasty can lead to more complications and a longer healing process. If I had known what I do now, I would have skipped the filler and gone straight in for a rhinoplasty consultation with an expert facial plastic surgeon, like Mr East, to discuss what was appropriate for me.
A massive thank you to the wonderful and talented Mr East and his amazing team!
