I had a septorhinoplasty with Dr Balaji at Rosshall hospital in September 2019. I have hated my nose for as long as I can remember and have been saving for a nose job for over 5 years. I went to Dr Balaji after doing lots of research on surgeons and I decided I wanted someone who specialised in noses rather than just a generic plastic surgeon. He seemed like the best fit for me as he’s an ENT as well as a rhinoplasty, septoplasty and tip reconstruction specialist. When I went for my initial consult with him I was just planning on a rhinoplasty purely for cosmetic reasons, however he informed me that I had a deviated septum and a fracture which had not healed properly which is why my nose was squint. He told me that this meant it was surgical rather than cosmetic and he would process it as such meaning I was paying £3,000 rather than £5,500. He did 3 pre-op consults before we booked the actual surgery to make sure I was a good candidate for the procedure, and to make sure he was completely clear on what I wanted and that I was completely clear on what he could realistically give me. Before the surgery, I was extremely nervous to be put to sleep, but Dr Balaji reassured me and really put my mind at ease and was also there when I woke up from surgery to reassure me and discuss with me straight away how the procedure went so I wasn’t left wondering. I had morphine after surgery and wasn’t in too much pain, and over night my pain was definitely there but it was kept managed. The most uncomfortable part was the nasal packing, however this wasn’t sore just uncomfortable and came out after 24 hours. At home, I was in pain however by day 6 it only really hurt if I touched it. I only had really bad black eyes and swelling on day 3 and then it started to go down, by day 5 I was out and about and feeling back to myself, and by day 7 when the cast came off I had no swelling around my eyes and practically no bruising left. My scar was barely noticeable by week 2. I had high hopes for the procedure but I didn’t think it was even possible for him to give me the results he gave me. I was over the moon with the look of my nose when the cast first came off after a week and couldn’t have imagined it getting any better than that but every week I’m noticing an improvement. I’m now 6 weeks post op and 1000% happy with my nose. I don’t notice any swelling at all it looks amazing, my scar is basically gone and I’m in no pain whatsoever unless my nose is knocked. Its better than I could have ever imagined, and not only has it made a difference physically but also mentally. I’m now so much happier in my own skin and so much more confident. I can’t thank Dr Balaji enough as my new nose is what I’ve dreamt of for the past 7 years. He was so comforting and reassuring throughout and you can tell he takes pride in and enjoys his work. I couldn’t recommend him enough and am so grateful for my new nose.
