WORTH IT
In May 2016 I underwent several surgeries in one of Seoul PS’s. Before coming there I, of course, did a deep research, consulted with friends who had plastic surgeries before, saw many cases and in the end to be honest, everything was in chaos for me. After all three hospitals were selected for a consultation.
Let me talk about my troubles first, my face was very round and jaws squared and in order to cover those shortcomings I hided cheeks from both sides with hair and was quite shy to show my face. Although I was pretty thin my friends gave me a nickname “bun” because of my hamster cheeks and in order to get rid of the “inferiority” feeling I decided to rely on plastic surgery.
Consultation:
The location of the hospital was a bit strange, not in the area where all ps’s located and still relatively easy to find. Once I entered the hospital, there were a lot of people and almost no seats in the lobby. Like in all other places I was before, they took x-ray before meeting the surgeon and when I met him, he gave me a detailed explanation of my problem. He started from analyzing my face and told where improvements were needed. Then, watching at my x-rays told a specific surgical plan and for my nose consultation he brought me to another surgeon. Both consultations were pretty smooth and when we reached a critical point – price, I thought it’d be very expensive but surprisingly I was given some discount for proceeding facial contouring and nose job at once, so the cost was ok.
On my way back to the hotel I was thinking about the hospital and generally I was satisfied with both surgery plans and prices given by the doctor. The hospital I went to was BANOBAGI plastic surgery and my surgeons were Dr. Oh for facial contouring and Dr.Lee for nose job.
Operation:
A day after I came back for medical examination and operation. During the whole process I was under general anesthesia and woke up when everything was already done. A nurse helped me to get into a wheelchair and get to the recovery room. I felt extremely uncomfortable after anesthesia, dizziness and discomfort, my mouse was very dry but I was asked to wait 3 hours. My face was so swollen and nose was stocked with cotton tampons so the discomfort was disgusting and the first night was like a nightmare. The next morning I was even more swollen, could barely open my eyes, lost sense of smell and breathed only with my mouse and only after removing cottons the situation improved a bit.
Recovery:
The first week was the most difficult. Terrible swelling and edemas all over the face, I couldn’t eat normal food and was half-hungry most of the time which also made me a bit angry. On the 8th day the bandage was removed and I underwent some after surgery treatments at BANOBAGI. It noticeably helped to get rid of swelling and edemas finally began to disappear. Two weeks after swelling gradually reduced and bruises were almost gone and stitches were removed from my nose and gums. It was a bit painful but endurable and the nurse did her best to finish everything as quickly as she could. Later they took another set of ct scans and Dr.Oh showed me my before and after ct’s and the difference was very clear. Square jaws before the operation were as wide as cheekbones and after the mandibular angle became smooth and a cheekbone narrowed. I was very satisfied. About 3 weeks later I began to eat soft food like noodles and dumplings. Edemas were completely disappeared and swelling remained only on the upper lip, nose tip and a bit on face. Certainly, the recovery was tougher than I thought but mostly because of the discomfort caused by the excessive swelling. I took painkillers only a few days and later there was no need for them.
By the end of the third week I visited a dermatologist for swelling management. The process was very nice, my face was wiped by some cool sheets and then covered with a lid, guess it was an oxygen mask or some kind… The entire hour BANOBAGI professionals took care of my face and after the procedure I left the clinic like a newborn. Dr.Kim (dermatologist) told that I was swollen more than others so it took me a bit more than a month to completely get rid of swelling. Basically, I went out every day and walked a lot but every case is individual and it didn’t help me much.
A month after the surgery I returned home. My mom didn’t recognize me :) My friends said it was a bit scary to look at me but there was no way to get rid of swelling faster. By that time, I could already eat rice and boiled vegetables. I cut them into several small pieces as opening mouth was difficult. Two months after I felt much better. I liked to look in the mirror and admire my new nose and face. The first night out with friends was about 9 weeks after, by that time I could freely open my mouth and already ate everything I wanted.
It took me a while to recover and I suffered a bit but plastic surgery is not a magic and has its price but it definitely worth it. Now I can make my hair curly without worrying that my face’d look bigger and friends keep telling that I became noticeably confident and acquired unique charm. Everyone likes new me and I have no regrets.
