Defined and Natural Jaw Line

Hello. I am a Korean-canadian that got a lot of work done on my facial bones in 2015. I know this review is a few years old but my doctor asked me to write a review for him and I happily will.
I went to teach English in Korea late in 2013. Up until then I only had work done on my eyes. The double eyelid or ‘ssanguhpul’ is a surgery where like 80% of all Koreans aged 18-30 get these days. While I was in Korea I didn’t even plan on getting surgery but as I made friends with Koreans who were very pretty, peer pressure kicked in and I eventually ended up getting A LOT of work done. I practically spent all the money I made there on my face ?. There probably aren’t many Korean people on realself but I will give you some insight. There are a lot of white and Hispanic-looking people that go to Korea for surgery. I was shocked to see so many foreigners while I was recovering there. Anyways the hospital I got surgery at Banobagi, I didn’t even plan on getting surgery when I went there. I was really into K beauty skin care and Banobagi was very popular in Korea for selling these expensive face masks packs so I went to buy some. I remember just looking at their face masks in the lobby area and one of the workers asked me if I was there for a consultation for my jaw. Although I said I wasn’t, I became really self-conscious about my face ( I had a slight underbite) and I remember going home and looking up procedures for the jaw in korea using the website Naver, which is like google for Korea.
Fast forward like a month and I was back at Banobagi hospital getting looked at for my face. I remember during the consultation there were two surgeons. One was a specialist in the bone cutting department (that sounded weird) and the other for nose. I had no idea why the nose doctor was there since the consultation I asked for was for my jaw but anyways. So I had kind of an idea that bone had to be cut from my face since the ‘vline’ operation was pretty popular in Korea. But I’ll be honest when the surgeon kept talking about how complicated the procedure was and where the bone was going to be cut, the only thing that was going through my head was ($$$$$$).
I was even told that before I was able to get my jaw surgery, I would have to get braces. Like WTF. I totally remember like wanting to go out of the office until he started showing me these slides of why braces were required and I started to get it. So after that initial consultation I spoke a staff member on the cost for everything and honestly I felt like crying. So like the purpose of me going to Korea before I went was to save max amount of money since I had family there and didn’t have to pay rent but like all the procedures were so expensive. But enough about me whining about the costs, I eventually ended up getting everything done, braces, v-line, cheekbone reduction and my nose.
Since I was still a teacher while everything was going on, I was only able get my teeth aligned and my underbite fixed while still being able to teach. The other procedures required me to stop teaching for a month or so.
I don’t think the braces is anything special but had to have them on for 7 months before surgery, that’s about it so I’ll talk more about the surgery. I got 3 different types of jaw procedures done all at once. The zygoma reduction, they basically cut bone from my cheekbones slightly so that coupled with the v line procedure my face would look very balanced and symmetrical from the front. If you look at my before after my jaw looks completely different from the front. The other jaw procedure was the two-jaw procedure ( I think its called orthognathic surgery) where it corrected my jaw line so it looked good from the side. That Everything took like 3 or so hours. I can’t remember the little details that went on before surgery like some of the other reviews I seen on here but I do know they took my blood and a few other tests before the surgery for safety reasons.
Now immediately after surgery, my face was swollen, but not as much as the pics I was shown during consultation. I had to do a strict care routine for about a month (no opening mouth widely, no drinking, no smoking) and only mild physical activity.
Results were starting to show I think 3-4 weeks after surgery. But the look I had after 4 weeks and after 8 weeks was also very different. I had to dig though my old photos I took to make sure.
I know a lot of people posted pictures right after surgery but I decided I wont since there are other people that posted pics right after surgery and I don’t think mine is needed. I will just show my pictures of before and after pics showing without swelling.
Well the overall review was amazing. I think I might added too many of my personal emotions in the review ( about price, etc). I’m not sure what the financial status of other realself users are but I spent probably 50% of my entire savings up but in the end I think it was worth it. I got my double-eyelid surgery which I stated in the beginning in Vancouver and like the standards in medical practice for plastic surgery compared to Korea is crazy different. It is just different on so many levels, Korea being much more advanced. Anyways. Anyone can ask me questions if they want.
