I love that I lost 85 lbs, I just hate my stomach. I was hoping to only do liposuction but after several consults a full tummy tuck is the only way to go really. I am nervous about the recovery process, drains, scarring etc.. Any feedback is great. I am supposed to have the procedure on May 20th. idk

Hi well done on your weight loss. I lost 65 pounds, I'm 52 and I'm now 10 days postop and am surprised at how well things have gone. Small amount of pain for first day but nothing much after that. I've followed the surgeons orders of rest with small amounts of walking around the house. And taking antibiotics and pain meds as instructed. The best thing for me was the surgeon put my compression garment on me soon after they finished surgery before anaesthetic wore off. So it was on me when I woke up and before any swelling started. Also makes sure you get less pain due to the compression and have more comfort to sleep etc.
I have scar hip to hip but it's a fine scar as tissue is also sewn up inside so top outer skin souls be very fine sutures to dissolve. New belly button looks worse but is good shape. No driving for 2 weeks in fact can't do much at all but rest. But I could still wash my hair etc so long as abdomen keeps dry and can do simple stuff for myself. If you have a family get help as you won't be able to look after anyone else but yourself.
Best to stay in hospital for first night to make sure all ok After that I go back every 2-3 days for dressing to be changed and check wounds are healing ok. Less chance of getting an infection that way too.
But already I look more shapely and skin lovely and flat. It will take a good year for scar to fully heal and start fading but get a good scar cream to help too. I can see il look great. No regrets.
Good luck with your op you will love the new you just give yourself time to rest and heal.

Thank you. I'm 10 days post op today. I've been resting and my caretaker has been amazing. My hips and upper thighs are numb. Is that normal?
May 15, 2016
You get numbness where you are swollen and bruised but your legs shouldn't be numb. Check with your dr.

My upper thighs are for sure. But I had an extended TT so the incision goes past my hips.

Mine was an extended tt hip to hip scar that sits quite high. But no numbness in legs at all. Only in tummy area where swollen. If something feels wrong then best get it checked. But you need patience and rest to recover.

Yes I spoke with my surgeon he said it is normal. It's starting to come back also

Just Had my Tummy Tuck
nikkigpMay 12, 2016
Today is my post op appointment. I'm really nervous about my scar and the belly button placement. I've been wrapped and have had a compression garment on since the procedure. Its so important to follow the post op recovery procedures. The recovery has gone more smoothly than I thought. I'm glad I had it done.
I'm not going to lie. Recovery was brutal for me. You really need someone to take care of you and help you clean your wounds, shower, and help you with your garment every day. I also have scars. My scaring had everything to do with the way my body over corrects the healing (auto immune) and not much to do with how I took care of myself post surgery ( I did take great care of myself though) Do you plan on staying at the recovery house?
