1/7/16
I had my tummy tuck done today! Everything went smoothly during surgery and I'm happy to finally have it done.
Though getting to the appointment was a train wreck, lol. First we "missed" the ferry from Bremerton to Seattle; the truck before us was the last vehicle to get on the boat so we were forced to drive around instead and there were two crashes along the way so we got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. And then since we weren't expecting to be driving there from that direction, we got lost twice and I was half asleep the first time we got lost and my dad made rash driving decisions, haha. Thankfully we made it to the office about ten minutes before I was supposed to be there.
So I was admitted in, I dressed into a medical gown and robe and the nurse came in along with my dad to go over the after care for when I got home(He is my main at-home 'nurse'). The nurse was incredibly sweet, she was a pleasure to have as a nurse. The anesthesiologist came in and went over the procedure which I honestly don’t remember much of and then Dr. Grenley finally came in(and my dad left) to make the marks for surgery, lipo on my hips and the incision line. I had to ask the nurse about having my period because it annoyingly decided to come in late and start on the 5th so I had to ask about removing my menstrual cup which her and the anesthesiologist got to learn something new about, haha. Once I was ready I was walked into the surgery room and laid on the table and they prepped me up to be knocked out.
I woke up roughly 5 hours later to my nurse waking me and making sure I was okay, she was a little worried about my blood pressure because it was low but the anesthesiologist also mentioned to her that it was low before being knocked out. Dr. Grenley said something to me (I don’t remember because drugs) and I was set off to get ready to leave to go home.
We decided to drive so we didn’t have to wait for the next ferry to come by and I stayed awake a pretty long time after getting home, I had more apple juice, some soup, and just tried to relax.

Dr. Grenley did lots of lipo on my hips and didn’t have to do any kind of muscle repair/tightening. It was hard to get around and into bed but I finally got there and made sure to take me medicine on time with a alarm.

Backtracking a little

I wish I was able to add dates to these updates so they would look right! I was too out of it right after surgery to make a post and everything, haha. Anyway, here's how the last few days went:

1/8/2016 (1 day post op)
I called the office because while everyone told me the day before ‘I’ll see you Monday!’, I didn’t remember what time on Monday so I had to ask when, haha. I also talked to the nurse about my condition and she was surprised that I was so chipper and awake for the first morning after surgery.
A gym friend of mine who recommended me to Dr. Grenley also called me to see how I was doing and she was so sweet! I could hear her voice a little wibbley with happy crying for me.
I was tired most of today and in a lot of pain closer to the end of the day though I did keep up a schedule of waking up every 3-4 hours to take pain medication, I don’t remember much of this day, haha. I do remember however accidentally catching my cord on the bathroom sink door handle, that wasn’t pleasant.

1/9/2016 (2 day post op)
I took three pain pills instead of two (I was told I could if the pain was bad enough) to get through the morning because the night right before bed was so bad. The pain today isn’t so bad, thankfully! My dad made me homemade chicken noodle soup but I haven’t eaten too much, they said I wouldn’t have much of an appetite.

1/10/2016 (3 day post op)
This morning when I was having my dad helping me with measuring my drain fluid I was getting faint so I had to lay down real fast again, I think I didn;t eat enough the day before, whoops. But good news is, is that I don’t really need help to get out of bed anymore, yayy! And pain has reduced a lot, gone to strictly one pain medication pill every 4 hours. Minimal pain, mostly when laughing or if I move too quickly. Going to see Dr. Grenley tomorrow for a checkup and he’ll be taking a look before wrapping me all up again. I can’t walk around/stand for too long however without feeling a little faint.
Also TMI but finally pooped right before bed today. I had been gassy yesterday and having some light pressure today (but didn’t want to try to push in fear of hurting myself) but I took some metamucil and a hour or so later I was able to go, not sure if that’s what helped it though since it was so soon after but yayy nonetheless. Lol.

The added photos of how the binder looks like on 1/10/2016. I'm looking good! there's a ton of padding under there so I'm excited to see how it looks without. :)

Doctor visit today

So I went for a visit so Dr. Grenley could take a look at how I'm healing, he took off the itchy tape holding the additional padding up in case of leakage and he said it all looks really good! He put some ointment on my new belly button and put a new bandage on and sent me on my way back home. My whole stomach/belly button area feels numb, it's so weird. I know feeling will come back in time but I've never felt numb like this before. I tried to take a pic of the incision when I got home but it was in bad lighting so perhaps tomorrow I'll try to post something.
He also said I will get to get my drains taken out this week, yay! I scheduled for Thursday to get them hopefully pulled, my bulbs just started giving less than 10ml of body-juice which he wants it like that for a few drain times before pulling the drains. I can't wait to get them out, they are a hassle to have to deal with.

Dr. Grenley was very informative on everything to do with my tummy tuck from how he does tummy tucks, how other kinds are performed, to risks and everything in between. I found him on RealSelf and through a friend from my Gym; I had a few doctors, including him in mind and my friend highly recommended Dr. Grenley so I decided to meet him and have surgery with him. Dr. Grenley was very kind but straight to the point and down to business (so no 'fluff'). After my consultation I got a handwritten 'thank you' letter from him which I thought was incredibly classy and I really appreciated it, small gestures to me is a big deal. Also when I called to ask a question after surgery when the office wasn't open he called my home soon afterward to answer my question. I spoke to Dr. Grenley's patient scheduler through email and phone and she was a pleasure, very kind and chatty and made sure to get the information I needed to know quickly if she had to ask someone else for the answer. My nurse was lovely, she gave me tons of care and made sure I was okay all along the way, she was very comforting and I felt very safe in her hands.
