Finally, I don't have to deal with the aftermath...

Finally, I don't have to deal with the aftermath of my poor decision making. The nose is straight. I give Dr. P. my two thumbs up. He is talented. He has tons of street cred. He knows the nose. I am so glad I went from Portland to Seattle for an expert (it was also nice to be completely anonymous and not local). Thank you Dr. P!!!

Dr. P. is meticulous, kind, and funny! He sets you at ease in his Portland office with a wry smile. What separates him from all the others doing facial plastics is his rhinoplasty skill. Many non-plastic surgeons take on liposuction, filler injection, lasers, even breast augmentation and facelifts; but few non-plastics take on the nose. There are many plastics that won't even touch the nose! I had a primary rhinoplasty 2 years ago in Portland. My nose started becoming crooked 1 week after cast removal. I had open rhino and my columella had a step off. I had restricted breathing. I had steroid injections. I taped. I had a revision 1 year later with only relief of the step off. My dentist told me I had to do something about my breathing because I was starting to get gum inflammation from dry mouth due to mouth breathing. I finally went to Dr. Portuese because Dr. Hayes was kind enough to tell me about him. Then I had 3 friends from Oregon go up to Seattle for operations. Two had their 3rd rhinoplasty with him. And he did it closed, even with a skin graft. One went for a facelift. Their results were amazing. Their noses are so natural looking. Not pinched, not crooked and they breath. My friend with the facelift looks refreshed. People think she had her hair cut - but the difference is amazing. I had finally given up on another surgery, but based on my friends, I went for one consult. (I had interviewed 1 on the Hill, 1 in Lake Oswego, 1 in Beaverton. None of them do the volume of rhinos or revision rhinos that Dr. P. does). Dr. Portuese put me at ease when he told me he had done 1,000s of rhinoplasties. That is amazing. I went to his RealSelf website and he has HUNDREDS of before and afters of just rhinoplasty. Within two months I was in and had surgery. It has been 5 weeks and now I breath. I still have swelling but not epic like my other surgeries. At my follow up visit, no steroid injections. I am thrilled to be freed of my nose concerns. My septal deviation, that was supposed to be fixed before, is finally straight. The staff are all wonderful. I was scared of having general anesthesia but Dr. Portuese actually came in while they were placing the IV and talked me through it. I asked him today if he feels like he did a good thing, because he has really made a difference in my life and I am grateful.
