With grade 3 nipple inversion, all plastic surgeons I consulted with prior to Dr. Sowder had expressed surgery was my only option and that breast feeding would likely not be possible if that route explored. Lisa is the only surgeon I found in the US to correct nipple inversion with a piercing which preserves the milk ducts. I am aware that some women may not be able to breast feed for natural reasons but I wanted to preserve any chance I had. I love my piercings and have chosen to not take them out. My nipples are no longer inverted and i've even experienced some increased sensitivity, a major plus. The procedure itself was very quick and painless, and I only needed advil afterwards that same day.
