A Very Positive Change - Seattle, WA

I'd considered having a breast reduction for years. I struggled with all of the typical problems. Back and neck pain, rashes under my breast line, my clothes didn't fit right. I just didn't feel good about myself. I had a consult a year prior to seeing Dr. Cooper and my insurance denied my request. I thought about it for several months and decided that I didn't want to live the second half of my life (I'm 52 years old) with the burden of this, not only physical but mentally. I found Dr. Cooper through a friend who's a nurse and highly recommended him. I went in for my consult (and I have to say already being self conscious was nervous) and Dr. Cooper has a very nice, calm, pleasant bedside manner and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I had told him I would have to pay out of pocket and that my insurance had denied my previous request. At the end of the consult her told me he'd be doing me an "injustice" if he didn't try to get the insurance to authorize the procedure. It took 6 weeks but they approved his request. 5 weeks later I had the surgery. It went flawlessly. I really haven't got anything negative to say about my whole experience. I consider myself average height and build. 5'5", 165 pounds, previously my bra size was a 36-H, I'm now a 36-C and about 3 pounds lighter in my chest area! It's only been about 5 weeks since my surgery and I do have scars but they are rapidly fading. The pain was minimal and managed well with medications and restricting some of my physical activities the first few weeks. My only regret at this point is that I didn't have it done sooner.
