Provider Review
Great results so far. Staff is focused on success, which I enjoyed as I was undergoing a daunting experience. Being athletic (15 - 24 BMI) until 3 years ago as a result of an unspeakable catastrophic injury, Dr. Brecht demonstrated empathy and was very helpful to professional guide my decisions over the past two years before I decided to have the liposuction. I had lab work done two days before surgery and picked up my drugs that next day! The photocopied instructions were easy to follow and I already had my gear prepared from over a year ago. The staff emphasizes having adequate support for a good reason: safety! Make sure your support team is loving to you though you may not feel that way back afterward. I did experience the concerns she discussed and it was documented on the paperwork. I liked how the staff allowed me to be conscious the first part of the procedure, then they increased my meds to put me back to sleep for the remainder. I had the chance to see the canisters of fat and just thought it is no longer in my body. Good riddance! I returned back the next day to feel like a salted slug oozing all over and feeling exhausted, but inspired. She explained exactly what to expect over the following two weeks: swelling, lumps, and a "sunburn" sensation over the affected areas. I sprayed on aloe vera gel then dabbed on (grocery store bought) hemp oil and then covered up with compression clothing, as advised. It really helped, though not recommended, to place gel ice packs over the most tender spots when I felt like crying. I also consumed tumeric root / curcumin products to reduce the heat wave of inflammation. Bruising was slight as I brush my skin with a "skin brush" a week later. I walked for exercise to the distance I no longer felt comfortable every day, as advised by Dr. Brecht. My diet was adjusted sometimes by reducing salt and sugar. When I felt awful, I drank a gallon of water spaced out over the 16 hours I am awake. TJ's aloe vera juice mix into my mineral spring water helps with digestion and inflammation too. The most annoying part of post recovery is wearing compression clothes. I feel like Mrs. Doubtfire wanting to rip off my clothing every day and night! I refuse to sleep in uncomfortable gear and honestly found my clothing on the carpet the following morning. But, I notice that my posture has improved thus avoiding injuries. Digestive issues were persistent (gas, cramping, etc) for core post lipo! I listen to my pain quickly, take it easy reminding myself I had a "major surgery". I do have skin puckering on the back arms, but all else is either under skin lumps and numbness or dissolved "watery swollen" fat, kinda like a marshmallow texture at this time. For now, I use a home use ultrasonic cavitation device to aid the recommended massage. Overall, I'm impressed with my experience with Dr. Brecht. I previously consulted with two male surgeons who either recommended an mommy makeover "internal" corset or boob implants to hide my "big" arms! What jerks! I look forward to posting my 8 week followup pictures (before picture below). My body now is much more firm and I feel so much better with more freedom of movement. It is worth spending a year's worth of food and diet gimmicks to get real results! Plus I'm preventing chances of developing degenerative diseases and permanent physical injuries as a result of a degenerative disease. Consider liposuction your life insurance!
