I have been extremely sports driven my entire life...

I have been extremely sports driven my entire life. I ran club track for ten years before stumbling on my real passion, volleyball at the age of 15. I ended up playing in college and having the time of my life. Sports gave me so much but there was definitely always a physical defficiency for being so active, I was flat, and hated it. My entire body was in great shape but I looked like a 12 year old boy up top, so wanting a boob job is quite an understatement.

I've seriously considered a boob job for the past two years (I'm almost 26) and especially after having my son who just turned one. There's just something about pregnancy that alters everything you were used to into a body you never thought you would have. I'm a 32A and was a full C during my pregnancy and nursing for 6 months... Then the deflated breasts appeared once I was done nursing and I've been on the hunt for my surgeon ever since.

I've looked at thousands of before and after pictures and can't seem to settle on the "right" look for me. I'm 5"9 about 135 pounds and originally wanted to be a full C but have heard from so many women that you will always wish you would have went bigger.... Well I don't want to feel that way but I definitely don't want to be [RS bleep] star big.
I've got about 25 pictures of what I think I want and I've got 2 months till my pre-op and my surgery is scheduled for two weeks after that... Any advice is welcomed!

I'm in the same boat. Same height and weight as you. I am going back and forth between 410 and 440cc gummy bear silicone unders. I'm a runner and do much strength training, so I'm nervous to be bigger than a c. Better decide soon, as my surgery is in 18 days!

I def understand being active and not wanting to take anything away from that... It's hard because a full C can be quite different on two different body types.. That's the hard part.. Plus wanting to be comfortable while being active! I'm sure you will get a confident answer in the next week or so!! Good luck!!

Queen - what did you decide? I ride and compete on horses so also a very active person - feel free to check out my pics. ;)

I am SOOOO with you!! I love doing BJJ and 5k obstical courses! I am 6ft tall and 190 lbs. trying to decide between 400-500cc silicone dual plane. Augh! So frustrated! I done want to end up wishing I went bigger but I don't want it to get in the way! What to do!?

I totally agree! I'm planning to do a fitness comp this year and don't want to be all chest on stage... But I also don't want to pay and go through post op and wishing I had went bigger! I tried 500 high profile sizers and thought they might be a tad too big.. Starting to settle in on the idea of 475 cc gummy bear implant under the muscle.. I've got a few months to waiver back and forth! Hopefully you get it figured out!! Good luck!

Did u size in a regular bra or in a sports bra? One thing I read was that since we are going under the muscle if u size with regular bras u lose 20% since it is compressed under the muscle? I am also thinking about high profile because of this and I don't want to look to wide.. Thoughts?
User Avatar

I sized in a sports bra.. Wasn't very supportive and I really didn't get a great view of where the implants would sit.. Ya I would rather have a good roundness and high projection then to have big wide breasts.. I'm thinking high profile might be the better choice

Ive been told too that going under the muscle (which is what I did) can make them smaller, not sure if thats true or not, may be something to consider though

Ok now thinking of going saline due to my active lifestyle. I don't want to have to worry about a silent rupture or holding back... 475cc high profile???

I have heard that too.. It decreases the amt by almost 20% or so I've read

I think you def lose some when you go under the muslce .. I am avid equestrian so I'm sort of happy that I'm not enormous but in hindsight wish I went bigger. Everyone is so different .. ccs mean 1 thing for 1 person and 1 thing for someone else. I told my doc I wanted to be a D cup and brought in a picture of one of his patients on my iPad and showed him how I wanted to look. Based on that he recommend 425 mod profile silicone, under the muscle. I went with the 457ccs and SO wish I went with 475 or even 500! Just to compare, someone I know started with MUCH smaller boobs than me (AA versus I was a deflated B) and went with less ccs and ended up bigger than me. ;)

Welcome to RealSelf! I'm so glad you started your story.

Have you tried the rice test? It's nice because you can wear them around for a while and actually get a sense of the size.

Keep us posted as you get closer to your big day!

My story is similar to your, I am 5'6 and 121 lbs, I debated between C and D, went for D and I am a 32 DD and love it, I wore very padded bras before and no one knows I've had them done, I am so happy they are DD's I would not have minded bigger but they look so good, I would have been bummed with a C, good luck in your decision

Hey! I've also heard under the muscle can make your breasts look smaller... I just older mind being a D, I think my body type will suffice for breasts that large, I'm more concerned with a certain look... I want a round upper pole appearance.. I'd rather they sit a little high then drop. Did you do silicone or saline? And how many cc's?
User Avatar

*i wouldn't mind being a D

Feel free to take a look at my pics .. everyone has different skin, etc. I really wish I went bigger and I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op! EVERYONE I have talked to says they wish they went bigger. I brought in a pic to my doc (of his own work of course) and told him I wanted to be a D .. he told me I needed 425 ccs, silicone, mod profile to achieve my look. I ended up going with 457 ccs and am so happy I did. Then again, another girl I know who started off with much smaller boobs than me went with less ccs and turned out bigger than me so there is no exact science. I would just say whatever you and your surgeon decide, add another 25 ccs to that number lol. My 457's are easily disguised in clothes (see my pics) yet look great in a sports bra. :) Good luck and keep us posted!!!

I looked through your pics and you look great!! I'm hoping for similar results. I think I'll see what my PS recommends as far as profile and size and possibly add 25 cc's like you said. I found another girl on here who has exactly size and look that I'm going for, so I'll bring her pic into my post op, hope he's not offended it's not his own work! Good luck with recovery, and I'll keep you guys posted!!!

Lol good call!! I think that is the best because when my doc first said 425ccs I was thinking "holy cow" but then after doing more research, etc I found that it wasn't that big for me. I think you will be great! Sounds like you are in shape too! I am a very active, avid equestrian so I also didn't want [RS bleep] star boobs lol but these 457s should be no problemo. I will post an update once I am able to ride and work out! ;)

After reading what feels like a thousand different posts, I am a little worried at how my recovery is going to go when I have my 14 month old running crazy all over the house? My boyfriend will be here for the first three days but then he is back to work and I'm back to being a full time mom. Any mothers out there that are post op and have tips for dealing with kids are greatly appreciated!!!!

I totally agree with NoMoreBoob, it really depends on your body frame. I have an athletic built, 5'7, 128 lbs. I got 533 cc's silicone, I will end up with a D size. Go figure! :)

And your breast tissue, your skin too!  I started with a deflated B, added 457 ccs and am now a 36D. I had a lot of extra skin! I know ladies who started with less breast tissue than me but didn't have kids and extra skin, went with less ccs and ended up looking bigger than me!

Well I have a one baby and nursed him for 6 months, but my skin surprisingly isn't saggy and I'm left with just about the same size I was pre baby
February 19, 2013
I had no breast tissue and just got 375 HP, now I wish I would have went 400 but I was so worried about 375 being too big, it wasn't and I love them!! I'm 5'5" about 110lbs, check out my pictures... I'm only 4 days post op so they have some dropping to do... Keep in mind since I had so little breast tissue, I'm all implant... If you have some tissue that will make the size look larger. Also, I have two kids...they stayed with grandma for 4 days including the surgery day.. And I'm glad I had that time to heal.. I feel great now... The worst day was the day of surgery coming down from the drugs but after that caring for kids with help would have been manageable, especially for someone who is fit and active like yourself!

Thanks for your comment! I feel better about the whole baby situation.. I just know he is going to cry for me to pick him up a lot... Like you, I have very little breast tissue and I'm ok with being all implant, it's more of the fact that I want a certain look.. Most women on here want a "natural" look, while I'm perfectly ok with mine looking fake because im starting out so flat that there isn't going to be anything natural about them. Your results look great! Was the second day the worst?
February 19, 2013
The second day was not worse, I kept waiting for the bad part to come and it never did.... Thankfully for me, but I've read reviews about women who couldn't move for a week... Idk what the difference is, but I felt really good. Yes I was uncomfortable at times but overall I felt better than I expected! Morning boob takes a minute to get used to but goes away as soon as you start moving.... My biggest recommend is to take your meds as pescribed until you know how you feel... Don't wait for the pain, take the meds ahead of the pain on schedule.. Setting an alarm to remind you if necessary. I think the hardest part will be lifting your son into his crib or in the highchair.... My doctor told me to wait a week before lifting my 1 yr old... You'll need to talk to your doctor about after your boyfriend leaves to make sure you'll be cleared to lift your son without risking your implant!

Hi Waiting, the first day was the worest. I was in so much pain the meds didn't seem to take it away. The second day was a tad better. Morning boob, or really anytime you need to get up during the night sucked. It hurt. The weight of them and stiffness. I also read about the others who didn't have much pain. I kept praying I would have that experience. Well, I didn't. Now just taking it a day at a time. I also hired a mommy's helper. She helped me a lot. Getting me stuff I couldn't reach, cleaning a little, and taking care of my 9 year old daughter. It really is a roll of the dice. :)

Fit mom, I wouldn't plan on lifting more than 5 pounds for 3 weeks and my doc told me nothing over 15 pounds for 6-7 weeks,. This was extremely difficult for me, but I followed the rules because I had too much time, money, discomfort, emotions, etc. invested into myself.  I am not at 8 weeks (tomorrow) and am just now swinging back into my original routine and started light stretching of my chest muscles last week. (I have done lower body workouts.)    I had a very easy recovery, pain wise, and was tempted to do more than I should have but I didn't. I did NOTHING for 5 days straight which was difficult for SO many reasons. I didn't have sex or raise my BP for 2 weeks (paranoid? maybe) and I gently eased myself back into my pre-op routine of my business, my F/T job and horseback riding/working out.  A few of my friends who had a BA said the pain was awful but I didn't have awful pain, at all. Another one of my friends said the 1st 2 days were so painless and then everything the doc injected into the pocket wore off and she had several days of discomfort. There are ladies on here that are still struggling with pain and extreme discomfort after 3 darn weeks so everyone is certainly different.    I would not have minded a more fake look, myself LOL. Clearly I didn't have boobs before and all of a sudden I have boobs. My body type would not have done well with the UHP or the HPs, we went with the moderate profiles. Good luck on your journey! xoxo

I am in the same boat with you! I have a 14 month old, will be 15 months old when I have the surgery done and I'm worried about lifting her and getting back into a routine with work/daycare. My doctor said no lifting her for the first few days which luckly my husband will be around but then hes going to show me modified versions so I can safely lift her. What has yours recommended?
User Avatar
February 19, 2013
That's awesome, I'll def have to ask my PS about modified versions because my son is kinda needy when it comes to me, so I know I'll need to meet him in the middle somehow the first week and be able to heal and still keep my little guy happy! My PS just said that it's a no no to lift him for 2 weeks, because my son is pretty big for his age (30pound 1 year old) and his weight could be detrimental to my recovery.

So my car decided to take a turn for the worse at the greatest time ever... It's a Volvo and dealerships are the only ones who could fix the problem which meant 1500 dollars of an unexpected expense resulting in me pushing my surgery date back. I'm so pist. So instead of march 21st, Im now scheduled for April 23rd. I was twenty days away and now it's back to 53 days and I'm starting to just reconsider the whole thing... It's a major set back because I'm a full time student and mom, and march was perfect versus the end of April during finals.......

Sorry to hear about your car/$$! I waited 18 years for mine (right after I had my daughter and my boobs turned droopy!) .. for 1 reason or another the timing wasn't right or the money wasn't right .. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. My only regret is not going a little bigger and not doing it MUCH sooner. Only your life and you can dictate when the timing is right .. if it feels to 'forced' then maybe it is .. I always say if it's meant to be it will happen. There is a reason I didn't get my boobs 10 or 15 years ago .. ;) xoxo
