Facial Fat Transfer 51 Years Old

So after thinking about it, I've decided to get a consult for lip lift. Most of the fat transfer has left my top lip and the left side is lower than the right. It's also very noticeable when I talk. I'm not going with lip implants because I think it's too invasive and I'm afraid of having issues with it later.

I'm pleased that some of the fat transfer stayed in my lower lip, around my eyes, and some places around my face but it's difficult to say exactly where. I just think I do look better now other than my lips.

Sorry for posting this update twice but I can't figure out how to remove this one....

Thank you for posting. I see at 2 months you still had some bruising cheek eye groove. Did this ever clear up? Staining is a concern?

All of my bruising cleared up. For some reason I bruise very easily, and lasts a while. For example I'm a plasma donor and after a donating session I have to ice and elevate my arm or else I have a bruise that lasts for days.

I had this done 4 weeks ago and my eyes are still very swollen and brown underneath, it actually looks like a need a blethroplasty. Did yours stay swollen this long? I’m in regret mode currentlu

Sorry you lost some of the fat in your lips. It seems like no one can do fat transfers correctly

I just wish I would have researched it better and consulted more doctors before I had it done.

You think it could have done better?

I wouldn't have had my lips done. And I wish I had found Dr. Henderson when I researched Dr. Ptak. I probably would have just had the lip lift with her instead of the facial fat transfer with Dr. Ptak.

I’ve had this same problem with my fat transfer to my lips! Did you find a place to do a lip flip? I was thinking of getting that done to help fix mine.

What, I've never heard of a lip flip! I need to research that...

Thanks for sharing this! You look beautiful. I get what it's like to notice what we perceive as imperfections, and we miss the forest for the trees. For what it's worth, your face is really well proportioned just as it is. I'm researching facial fat transfer, and would want a little around the corners and border of my lips. You mention you wouldn't have had the lips done had you researched it more - should FT to lips be avoided in general?

Thank you and I totally get that! I'm so critical of myself I have to thing and rethink before posting my pics on here! About the FT, I guess it doesn't hurt to have it to the lips, and see how much stays.

So after thinking about it for a while and seeing how much of the fat transfer is gone, I've decided to have a lip lift. I've also noticed that the left side of my top lip is droopy and smaller than the right side, as well as lower when I am talking. I chose not to do the lip implant because it seems too invasive and I'm afraid of having trouble with it in the future.

I am pleased that some of the fat transfer stayed in my lower lip, and around my eyes, and I think there is some on the contours of my face but it's difficult to tell exactly where. I think I do look better than I did before.

Just wanted to add this note: I had a consult with a new surgeon and she said fat transfers aren't good around lips because it's an area that has a lot of movement, so the fat tends not to stay there. I wish Dr. Ptak had told me that and I would have had lip lift instead of fat transfer, at least around my lips!

Why did the surgeon say fats transfers are not good?

She said fat doesn't stay in an area where there is a lot of movement, and there is a lot of movement in the lip area! It stays better in the cheek, forehead, and chin areas.

Exactly! Since it’s like $2000 per area they should tell us that up front I would preferred to stay with fillers after all this

Would I have the facial fat transfer procedure again? Maybe, maybe not, but I’m still very happy with the results. I think it added volume to the entire structure of my face. Would I do the injections again? Probably not. I think l’ll have lip implants when I decide to do something more with my lips now.
