PLEASE DO NOT get this procedure done ever! It will radically change your appearance even after the swelling goes down.
I am well adjusted, educated , pretty 47 years old and had a quad blepharoplasty due to my hooded eyelids done at the same time as the cheek implants.
I love , love, love the outcome of my eyes , However the cheek implants, very different story.
I had these procedures done by an amazingly talented dual board certified face only plastic / reconstructive surgeon. No surgeon could have done a better job, his talent is not the issue here.
The un-natural transformation is. In addition the left implant had " granulation " (that's what the Doc called it) issues and I had to have it re done. I am having them both removed at the 10-11 month from original surgery.
BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER !! if I can save just one person from this bad decision this post will be worth it (first time, and probably the last, I've ever posted anything anywhere) I CANT STRESS ENOUGH >>>DO NOT GET THIS PROCEDURE DONE

Dear Bob Frost, I think it was both kind and responsible for you to provide your cautionary tale. Hopefully, upon removal of the facial implants you will be pleased with your appearance once more. That said, there are doctors who provide sophisticated three dimensional computer analysis of the augmented site and provide a custom prosthetic. I'm curious if such was the procedure in your case? I've been doing small amounts of Artefil in the cheek area for small corrections. The injections are a few years old and are not detectable. That said, I know Artefil can be highly problematic if complications should ensue. By way of disclosure: I am not a physician. Good luck with your recovery.

I went through the exact same thing. My surgeon did a perfect job as well. Its the cheek implants that are the issue. So I had them removed. Biggest mistake ever for me as well. Good luck with removal!

hi
sweetie how are you?
may I ask if the implants are hard shell material or silicon?

Hi! I've been researching cheek implants lately. May I ask... why were they a 'big mistake' if the surgeon did a perfect job? What did you not like about your face afterward? I've been going back-and-forth between fat transfer and cheek implants, I'd much rather a permanent solution and I'm afraid of fat transfers making my face look puffy like how people get fillers, and have puffy faces after a few years.

thanks bobfrost. would you might providing a little clarification about your cheek implant? was it a size issue (too big/small)? location? my understanding of grantulation is infection. is this a correct assumption? Thanks for sharing, good luck to your removal!

I believe that it might just put facial balance out of whack. The entire mid face is ment to have forward growth, not just the cheeks. If you treat the symptom instead of the causation as well then it is harder to achieve a natural look. Look into orthotropics and craniofacial reconstruction such as facial Osteotomy or a Lefort

Dear Bob. I wholeheartedly agree with your comments. I had cheek implants placed via incisions in my mouth a decade ago. They were poorly placed and needed to be revised. One of the revisions is still improperly placed and my face looks lopsided. Besides that, I agree with you regarding the transformation to your features. I look very different (not better, just different). The second surgeon I researched and selected handed me over to his son/nephew as a client and swore that I would receive expert care. So much for big Park Avenue NY surgeons.
