Bikram Yoga (hot yoga) @ 6 weeks PO?

WORTH IT$16,000
Hello ladies!! Just a quick update. I started working out last week on Thur after my PS gave me the green light. I was on vacay so I only did a little walking since I knew we'd be walking alot during our trip. Yesterday I started back with the routine work outs. I did 30 minutes on the stair mill & a few walking lunges, squats & thigh machine. I am trying to start off slow since the PS still wants me to give my tummy muscles (and chest too) more time to heal. Seriously tho, we use our abs for so many workouts that it's hard to decide what to work & not work?? I am just trying to really listen to my body & obviously stay away from direct core work. SO, that brings me to a question for you guys! Has anybody attempted to do Bikram yoga (hot yoga) at 6 weeks PO? I forgot to ask my PS about this particular workout at my last appointment last week. I will probably call the PS in the am, but wanted to know what your thoughts were? I should tell ya that I am not new to Bikram, I am a 6 yr vet in fact, but it has been over 6 months since I have taken a class. It's hot as hell still in AZ so I have no idea what's possessed me subject myself to 120 degree heat indoors, but I really do love the workout. There is a ton of stretching & core work involved in this activity. Anywho, anybody that has input re: the topic & has attempted Bikram 6 weeks PO or earlier your input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much & Happy healing to all!!

Holy cow! You look AMAZING! I had to scroll back to the top to double check your age! My husband has always told me that the "scenery" is nice in Scotsdale, but wow! You really have me thinking I need implants with my lift. Congrats!
:) Aw, super sweet of you!!! You are looking hot yourself~! I think the "girls" look great after the lift, but you can always go back for more if you really want to! :)
Love that suit! I am guessing the bikram involves a ton of core work, you would know?! I'm already bored with the ellipital and stair climber. I'm mentally ready for group fitness, but considering I'm winded walking up to my second floor....physically not ready. I figure in a month of cardio, squats, walking lunges, floor work and resistance/strength training & I'll be ready to hit it!
I agree, that's a good plan! After working out these past few days & doing a bunch of leg work it hurt to walk this morning - hella sore!! I decided to do the hot yoga at Lifetime fitness this morning since I was so sore. So glad I did! I was pretty impressed at how much I could do. I only steered clear of downward dog into vinasya stretch (where ur lying on ur belly, legs straight & ur arch/stretch your chest towards the ceiling). I didn't want to over stretch the tummy muscles. Everything else felt great! It's a not as strenuous as Bikram & it's only an hour. Bikram is 90 minutes. Feels so good to be moving the body again! Quick question for u, are you lifting weights for upper body too? If so, how much weight? I just used 8 lb weights for shoulders yesterday since he said not weights until chest muscles can heal, but it didn't feel like I was doing much. Are you doing full upper body work? Biceps, tri's, shoulders & lats? I'm seriously trying to be very cautious at the gym & figure out what I should & should not do, but I have not figured out the boundaries yet. I'm not used to having limits at the gym - I like the freedom of going for it, but the last thing I want to do cause any damage to my TT or chest muscles! PO SX repair would suck!! I've prolly been reading too much that's caused me to worry! But it can happen! Just curious of ur thoughts & if you had more convo w/ Ward on the subject?!
I havent done any upper body work AT ALL! Im afraid to even try triceps. Ward said no lats, push ups or abs. If I feel my pecs being used, I stop. Just too scared I guess. Do you wear your cg at the gym? Do you still wear yoyr binder?
I'm just a week past you on healing and I have been working out as well. It is really hard To go in the gym and have to do such different work outs than what I am used to. Especially using my core. My ps told me I don't have to wear my binder anymore so I don't wear it except when I'm at home. I did notice that my upper waist looks kind of chubby I am assuming its swelling but I am not sure. I feel so fat and lazy from being stuck on the couch for the last month. If it is fat I will freak out!! I can't wait to be back to my normal physical self so I can go give it 100% at the gym. It's weird to because I feel like eating all the time where as before the surgery eating was not on my mind very much :/
@ Sprinter123 NO! I have not been wearing my CG or binder to the gym! Bad, Bad, Bad!! I just didn't have enough pairs of CG to wear them to the gym & wear all day (I only have 2 & I am constantly washing them!), but I am going tom to get another pair (store has been out). I plan to wear it tom to the gym, they kind of just look like my biking shorts. I do wear my binder, but only at home & not everyday. @ Finally got my dream bod - We are on the same page! I feel the same way! I kinda feel like i have been PMSing for 4 weeks. I always get the munchies a week or 2 before Aunt flo visits, but this time it seems to be lasting for 4 weeks! I think I am in a slump. I am glad I can workout now to turn it around ASAP! Get the feel good endorphin's going...I feel like I am not as thin as I was at day 20 & it's frustrating! But I know I can get there, just have to stay focused on my diet & working out. I measured my waist too & was surprised that it was not any smaller, it's still 28.5. CRAZY! How is it that they look smaller, but they are NOT?? YOU look sooooo fab btw~! You go girl!
I tried to keep the 2 comments separate with a blank line in between, but it did not come out that way, sorry.....@ Finally got my dream bod - We are on the same page! I feel the same way! BTW, that position I was talking about it called "upward facing dog" that's the one I avoided. They don't call it that in Bikram.....Sprinter123, are you a yogi? :) http://yoga.about.com/od/yogaposes/a/upwarddog.htm
Thanks by the way I am from Tucson AZ, I'm in Georgia now because my husband is in the military but I lived in AZ my whole life. My waist measured the same exact as before my surgery as well, I was shocked because it looks so much smaller. It is nice to hear that we are in the same boat it just means it is all part of the healing process lol. I think I have been in such a slump with my eating because I have been force to be lazy and I have noticed that when I'm lazy I tend to want to eat more and much or junk lol! You look so good by the way, you are healing so nicely! I love your matching bras and panties I want to get some lol! It is so much fun going shopping now. I don't have to worry about a belly hanging over the pants when I button them.
Yoga is difficult for me because I am so ADHD, it's hard for me to relax enough to enjoy it. I get bored really easy, and it's just so hard for me to cycle down enough to get a good workout with yoga. I haven't tried bikram or even hot yoga. Just traditional. My daughter loves hot yoga. I like bootcamp type of workouts: high energy, everyone encouraging everyone else, and kind of "competing" against each other :) I can mix it up with pilates, but I think if my gym had decent yoga, I would get back into it. I am really more interested in cardio and resistance training. :) I went crazy with the cg's and have a bunch, so I'm still in mine 24/7. When I was in Tucson last weekend, I was at the pool for about 4 hours, and that was the only time I've been out of it. My binder is all stretched out and I don't feel it's as effective as my cg. I can't believe you go without! :) I should try it. I just swell so damn much by the end of the day, I feel like a can of biscuits. I'm afraid to find out what I would be if I went without it. Ward said, "do whatever feels best for you." RIght now, I love the cg, so there's my answer!
I used to think that about yoga too, but love the hot yoga. Heck, I guess I love all kinds of workouts, but I agree, I feel I am working out my best with boot camp type workouts...all about pushing the limits to achieve your best self ;) I guess that's why I created me user name bc I can't imagine living my life inactive. Being my heaviest @ age 25 yrs old made me realize being fit & living healthy is a chosen lifestyle. I've been on that narrow path ever since ;)
This is so ironic bc I just moved from GA to PHX a short time ago. We lived in Alpharetta - loved it there!! And one of my besties from 7th grade lives in Columbus still!! ;) glad u found me here!
And yes, I do the same when not working out - eating is worse. Working out & eating clean go hand in hand & make u feel great!! Eating crap starts that vicious cycle - neg body thoughts & feeling like what u ate - crap! Lol. I hear ya girl!!
Forgot to add that I purchased a size 26 in Joe's jeans the other day!! First time ever to get that size!!!! All my dresses are a size 4 now - mostly 6 before. The hub reminded me of that today. It's those things they help me cancel the neg thoughts!
Hi there I am 3 weeks out and was just wondering how you are doing? I am dying to get my kids out of the house but I am too scared to over do it and be miserable after. This happened to me yesterday so for now we are on house arrest! Besides the swelling and having to wear the cg garments are you feeling your energy and sleep is normal?
Hi there!! I know I am due for an update! :) I am doing great, thanks for asking! I still have TT swelling & some days are better than others, but not too shabby for week 7. I have these strange "knots" under my TT scar that I hope go away soon. I def feel my energy level is really good. I think when I feel tired it's mainly because I have been running around a bunch & this AZ heat really zaps alot of energy from ya. I have been sleeping well. I still use the a body pillow that I used to use when I was preggers to help add support to my tummy. It just makes me feel better. I have been wearing CG 24/7. I know on days that I have my daughter I still try to stay at home more, other than going to the gym. But if we go anywhere else, I try to make small trips. She is still young & I have to lift her into shopping carts, etc. Heat (again) doesn't make it any easier, but it does break up the day a bit to get out! Otherwise you get cabin fever!! :( I would say by week 5 is when I really started to feel better, some people talk about week 3 being that magic #, but week 5 is when I actually took a trip to CA to see some friends & worked out for the 1st x in weeks. Hope that helps & happy healing to you!!! You look great!
Thanks for the reply and yes that makes me feel better. I still hope I am more on the the short end of this healing process but "hope" being the key word. Lol. I talked to a few friends that had the same operations as me and they felt back to normal at 4 months but then I have spoken to others that said 6 months. I think you are totally right about not overdoing it and get out for a little errands so that I don't get cabin fever. Thanks so much :-)
wow ur doc did an AMAZZING job!!!!! its one of the best TT incision ive see so farrrrr!!!!!!!! from the AZ ppl....i live close to Sierra Vista and bisbee...im wrkin on my weight loss first. You look incredible!!! So happy for you. I regret not getting the girls taken care of. Enjoy your fabulous new body!!
Thank you!!! The good news is you can always go back for more~! If my arms need more lipo this time next year, I would not hesitate! but I am going to try my hardest to not gain any chub :)

I hear ya! :) TY! The Juicy dress is just to until the scars heal. I have super sensitive skin & I am ok with wearing it if it helps to protect the BB too! :) What are people using to cover their BB with after a TT I wonder? Sunscreen? hummm...anyway, you look great too!! I got the maxi dress at Cache. I plan to post a after pic with it on, but had to get it hemmed & waiting for my tummy to be less swollen. Happy healing to yoU!

Fun in the sun, working out & going to Funky Town! ;)

This week marks my 5th week PO. Saw my PS & I'm super excited bc I have clearance to work out, swim & to take a little trip to Funky Town (wink, wink) Woohoo!! Oh & I can also wear underwire bra's now ;) Perfect timing on all of those items bc were headed to CA right now for our 1st trip since my SX.

I'm starting to feel the numbness in the back of my arms fade. I have more swelling than ever this week, but Aunt Flo is here & I've been super active lately. I'm very pleased with the way everything is healing! I asked my PS about how much longer for the swelling & he said 1-2 months. So worth it!

Happy healing everyone! Here's a pic of me wearing my "Juicy" swim dress. I chose a one piece since I am keeping my scars (bb too) covered until they are fully healed. I don't want the harmful rays of the sun to damage my PS's meticulous work!
